It seems using AA batteries solves the issue. It has to do with a lower voltage coming from the AA batteries. Somehow the aperture mechanism can't handle the higher voltage from the standard battery on the long run.
I prefer the AA batteries (I recommend Eneloop) because they last longer (+1000 shots is realistic as opposed to +400 with the standard battery).

What will it cost? Any news on that? If I search the NIkkor 16-85, it costs € 560,-. A bit too much for me. I hope it is gonna cost around 400.

If you are having issues with your e-dial: this is the way to fix the issue:
Buy contact cleaner spray (costs around 5 bucks), and spray it on the e-dial. Spin it around for a few minutes and let it dry. I had this problem on my K-r and now it works OK! Seriously all there is to it! No need to send it in :)
