Thanks for the response Andre. I needed re-assurance that the K5 should be my next purchase and not a Canon 7D. The K10 has been perfect for everything else I shoot but the sports photography was something I had not anticipated was going to grow. The Sigma 100-300 and K10 combo can cope with cricket and cycling but I dont think people realise how fast a crew of 8 can row and how far they move in one sweep of the blades.

Hi,
Is anyone out there using a K5 with the Sigma 100-300 f4 EX for their sports photos. Can you recommend this combo.
I'm using this lens with a K10d, predominately at the 300 end for rowing photography. The lens is excellant but depth of field as you can imagine is very shallow at 300mm and the AF of the K10 is so slow it is causing me to miss too many important shots I've been commisioned to take.
I've tried a colleague's Canon and Sigma combo and the keep rate is far far higher than my Pentax combo.
I'm on the verge of ditching the K10 and Sigma and starting afresh with a Canon set up for my rowing photos but before I do so can the K5 persuade me to stay with Pentax.
Your thoughts and advice are welcome.
