Poll: Aperture, Lightroom, or other?

i'm an aperture user, but not very well knowledgeable in much regarding programs. my version is relatively old v 2.1.2 . i also have the NIK editing bundle too. seems alright. i wasn't too impressed, mind you, when i went to upload some new PEF files into aperture and it didn't let me. I do understand why, and since i lack any updates (for obvious reasons) i will probably have to wait to have my K5 payed off before actually buying the program.

one thing i do do, is upload all the RAW files onto my HD, then import into aperture. i does occupy quite a bit of space though.

great shots everyone, and thanks for the compliments. the puppy was 7 weeks at the time and i had just got him a few days before. even though he's just over 4 months now and weighs over 50 lbs, he still has the "cute" factor working for him.

again congrats to the winners and entrants, and thanks. time to go give the pup a treat. :D

interesting subject. while out last evening, i almost got a picture of a cloud that looked similar to the "horn of plenty", but i had to play field in baseball, and by the time i could get to my camera it was gone.

anyways, here's a few tiger lilies from the other day. i think i may have used a Pentax M 1:1.7 50mm (kit lens that came with the K1000) along with my broken K20D (shattered viewfinder).

from the winter, while helping a friend get his log truck ready for the bush. we were just tightening up the bolts on the U-joints that hold down the loader. it was a toss up for me, since i have a few pictures from garages, the orange sort of stood out.

hi,

here's the quote from Henry's in canada...

"The K5 has had problems with the sensor and with a command dial, but a recall was issued in the earlier part of this year to fix these issues. New K5 units are free of these defects."

that's all i know, sorry the slow reply, dial up is what it is.

i don't own a K5 yet, but ordered one last week, then found this post.

i then emailed the store to ask them about the problems (since the order is on hold), and was told that the production models from earlier this year had the issues mentioned in this thread and were recalled, and the problems were fixed.

forgive me if this has been posted, i just thought i'd mention it.

i love the thread! bicycles are my only mode of transport, except rides from people who own cars. i am on dial-up too, so i have been unable to see most of the post so far, but in time i will. so here's my contribution, it's my winter bike which is currently getting the old parts from my summer bike installed.

thanks for info, i did get the diagram a couple days ago, i'd have to assume that the parts can't be that much different for the K20D.

i'm currently waiting for a K5. i may in time send my K20D in to get fixed. i have also noticed something moving inside the body now too, sounds like something large too as opposed to something small rattling around.

just a minor update.

i did end up getting a K5 today, it's on order. after reviewing the specs, it made more sense and fortunately i found it cheaper in canada (i was planning on getting it from bh. but after taxes and duty it was cheaper to get it in canada but i didn't take into account the currency exchange however) even though i was hoping to get it in at bh in order to get a "paid membership" here, it was still a bit cheaper.

can hardly wait to try it out.

i also noticed something moving inside the k20d when i put in the memory card this morning, so it wasn't just the viewfinder that got damaged, but in time, after i get a fish eye lens and a printer, will i look into getting the view finder fixed, maybe.

take care.

i'm in the same boat at the moment, except it's with a K20D, and i do know exactly how it happened.

i did email pentax but never got a reply. i really don't feel like sending the camera away though, and will probably just buy a new one (probably a K-7 body) in the next couple weeks, unless i can find the parts for it.

for me, the glass is shattered, and the rubber and plastic around it are wrecked.

is pentax the only place to purchase the replacement parts, if that is even possible?

well, somehow i thought this thread would be fitting for my first pic post on the forum. synchronicity i suppose. i have plenty of tree pictures, mostly of them alive, and many autumn shots, but since this is the most recent of my tree pictures i'll post this one. it's unedited, if i wasn't on dial up, i'd probably upload a larger version.

i have a hard time putting words to my pictures, and tend to let them do the talking.

well, thanks for the replies. seeing as i was a bit vague in my location, i'm near sault ste. marie, i do believe there are 2 pentax dealers here. not sure about what they sell since most of my shopping is done online, and using the bank of the parents to pre pay for most things as i pay them back in time while on my limited disability income.

i did look at the K-5, but realized that the increase in cost will result in me taking a longer time in acquiring a much desired 10-17mm pentax fish eye. plus if it hadn't been for the accident on my bike, i would have already have purchased the lens.

my k20d still works fine, i just cant see much out of the viewfinder and i'm completely dependent on the AF, which is alright for taking pics of my puppy as he grows.

anyways, thanks for the greetings.

take it easy.

hello,

new member here, but have been reading posts for a few years now.

my first pentax experience came when i was younger using my dad's K1000, which i have now, but haven't used since he gave it to me.

i currently have a K20D and have had plenty of fun with it, until i recently wiped on my mountain bike, and managed to shatter the view finder. even though i broke a tooth, i'm more disappointed in the shattered viewfinder (the dentist had to remove black plastic that was caught between my teeth).

i have a few lenses too, but i'm feeling kind of lazy to get them and label them all, some are older that i got with the K1000, but i'd have to say my favorite one so far is the Pentax 55-300 mm DA (my second one, after the first one fell off my desk).

i have some lower res pics posted at Pictures by greentreee - Photobucket

i'm currently debating in either getting a used K20D or a new K-7 body, since it looks like the cost of fixing the broken viewfinder will cost around the same.

anyways, that's my intro.

take it easy.
