645z + P67 200mm + extension rings #1 & #3
I had a lot of trouble not clipping the highlights from either the overhead light or the daylight through the window. Eventually I did a long exposure of 6 seconds and shielded the window for about 4 seconds. So full light at only +/-2 seconds.

Japanese cherry blossom in full bloom in our yard. In our area they only bloom for a week between mid April and mid May depending on the weather. This year is early. I took a whole series at different apertures and eventually selected this one at f/6.7 or f/8 (can't remember), even though it is not the sharpest because of the lack of DoF, I think it is the most pleasing one.

Congratulations with your new camera. I am sure it will bring you great joy.
Can you share more about the anamorphic adapter and what you see as a benefit using it. I've only read about it and understand the concept, but could not really see the benefit, hence I haven't spent the money yet :-)

Couldn't resist posting these few from the cats....
As a dog guy I am surprised how attached I became to the two cats.
645z + some lenses and Godox V1 (First two pics with HSS @1/1000)
Interestingly, pictures of cats (I suppose any predator animal) you can't use HSS if their eyes are open. The extended time that the flash is lit, is enough time for them to close their eyes, so that by the time the camera shutter is opened you get pictures of closed eyes. So if I need their eyes open I switch back to standard sync speed at 1/125.
These were taken whilst indirect daylight was "shining" in through the windows.

Interesting poll results. Pity is it not relevant anymore, since the last firmware for my camera was in 2017, even though there are many updates that would be an improvement and within the capabilities of the hardware. Do they care?

If someone is upset about the brand of camera used and they want to go elsewhere, then wish them well and let them go. Otherwise it will be another something silly soon, like it must be jpg out of camera, or editted with Silkypix, etc.
I don't think this is in need of an official decision. I do find it peculiar that someone makes a demand for a change, otherwise they walk.... If they dont like it here they can walk anyway, silently, without dumping some concocted puritan demand.
Sorry to disagree Ed, but I don't see both sides of this. This thread on the forum is what it is, shaped and created by very talented people. Everybody can appreciate it as it is, or leave. Nobody is forced into anything.

The "perceived" focal length compared between a FF and 645z for a similar focal length, will most likely be on the width (horizontal) view of the image. It is very difficult to look at a picture along the diagonal. So if you want to know the equabalent field of view for a focal length divide the two horizontal dimensions. The same applies in portrait mode, then use the other dimension.
In reality for most applications, I find it rather impractical and superfluous to compare lenses to that "precision" of use. If I have a 90mm lens on the 645z, but I actially want to take a picture equavalent to a 50mm lens on FF, I just take a step or two backwards. But mostly you adapt and take the best picture with the lens you have, isn't it?

Great lens Richard. It even outperforms the FA* 300mm. When I feel adventurous I take mine out on a monopod with a gimbal.

The sturdiest tripod heads I found was either a "bridge" type tripod head like the manfrotto 504X (I have a similar older model) or 509HD (if you want to spend a lot), or a large pro gimbal (not the video versions). Select load capacity at least twice the intended load. So if your kit weight 5 kilos, camera and lens, then look for a system with a load capacity at least twice that. More capacity is better. The manfrotto also has a larger mounting plate (not arca swiss) which makes the mount between the camera and tripod less of a pivot point. The other culprit is the tripod legs, carbon fiber is easy to vibrate and propagate vibrations, so heavier is better, or if your budget allows look for the wooden tripods, such as Berlebach, sans that go for an aluminium version. I have the mini Berlebach for low level shots and travel, it is light and stable as concrete even with a long and heavy lens. I don't have the budget for a large Berlebach tripod, but found a large Leofoto works as well, yet it probably weighs twice as much as the wooden equivalent.
The other stabiliser you can try is a bean-bag on top of the lens, the bean-bag will absorb a lot of the energy. Try out different positions on the lens to get the best results. I found the best result somewhere between the tripod mount position and the camera.
A bit controversial, but you can aslo tension in the system, doesn't work well with a gimbal but a ball system or a bridge type will work well. You make the system slightly off balance to add a tension on the tripod head. The sweet-spot is when the tension is such that it takes more energy to move it than what the shutter shake produces, then reduce it somewhat. Combine all these and you should have a super stable setup.
My basic approach is that the source of the shake is with the camera, start to mitigate from the source outwards. The next would be the long lens that will reverberate the shake from the canera, and most likely enhance it. (mitigate with bean-bag on the lens). Some energy will transfer to the tripod. Imagine your tripod is a piece of string hanging like a playground swing. It will sway with the slightest touch. Energy going into the tripod is a good idea, but you dont want the tripod to return the energy, just absorb it. Heavy gear and stuff that doesn't vibrate easily is the basic solution (mass absorbs vibrations).
