Help ! Asahi Pentax Spotmatic Question!

Hi, i recently stumbled upon a 1964 Asahi Pentax Spotmatic and as i was kind of fooling around with it i noticed that when i put in a new battery the little meter inside the view finder didnt work. My question is will this affect how my pictures turn out in any way ? also could i be missing something a step or anything to make it work?
If you know about the Asahi Spotmatic let me know. :)
