The connection is the same as for all the other finders. Sometimes the sponge rubber may have been replaced and be a little thicker and may need to be more firmly pushed down. Sometimes it might be the opposite problem and the sponge is too thin and that might make the finder loose and rattle while still attached. I find the chimney finder excellent for getting the focus easier, I'm sure you will work it out and enjoy it.

Well the 15th here so mid month, the 400mm A lens has been a lot easier to use than expected. The resolving power on the K1 meets anything I have thrown at it so far. The minimum focusing distance is quite close for a telephoto so that birds and flowers fill the frame nicely too. Physically it is quite a long lens but quite light, I have mostly been using a monopod to steady my wobbly grip, not really a subtle outfit in the street but easy to use. I'm off working in the country for the next 2 weeks so hopefully there will be plenty of 400mm subjects.

With prices for the F available at less than$100AUD and the low light capability of the K1 it might surprise you and be worth a try , also the size is more pub friendly than the modern lenses which might draw a little too much attention....... :) https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/g1132214279 |

Well I vote for going further back to the F 70-210mm, nice and compact, star wars chunky look, screw drive and relatively economical , even here in Oz. I have enjoyed mine over the years, I have both the HD 70-200 2.8 and 70-210 F4 but they are huge in comparison to the tiny F lens.

Enjoy your new camera and you have a nice range of lenses there, the prices paid were very reasonable and with your eye for a bargain I'm sure a 105mm will appear at some point in the future, don't be put off by a yellowed early version, they can be de-yellowed easily.

I shoot raw so the JPEG profiles are interesting to me but I have no experience of using them. With the K3iii Monochrome there are many options for clarity and grain settings, but the main JPEG recording settings are regular, soft and hard, they remind me of the old days when using different grades of paper to print in the darkroom. There is also a range of digital filters such as toy camera, grainy monochrome, invert color (well invert mono like a negative actually), tone expansion and more. I do find that I prefer processing the RAW with a little more clarity than straight from the camera. Personal preferences are so subjective that it is hard to advise others about what is best. In the video the presenter even mentioned that the JPEGs from the pentax turned out how he would normally process a mono image but then went on to praise the fashionable rendering of the Nikon cameras with over the top darkness and light. For me the mono camera has been well worth the price and probably the most enjoyable camera I have used since the original K1 was released.

I prefer AF-S and recompose, I also drive a manual/stick transmission car. I prefer to control what I am focusing on rather than let the camera guess/assume/help me. The ability of AF-C modes to work out what should be in focus and then track it is an impressive feat most of the time. It is however immensely annoying when those decisions go against what I want. I don't often shoot subjects that require AF-C and have it set up as user mode 5 for those times when I am finding the AF-S not working for me. Even in that mode I often find myself going to the manual focus switch when the camera is doing the disco light shuffle around the viewfinder as it decides what to focus on.It probably goes back to how I first used a camera back in the film days with a K1000, years of using the central focusing aid and then composing the image means my muscle memory is trained that way. Kobe does do a deep dive in to the focusing options, the way that Pentax has improved the autofocus system over time and with firmware updates is impressive. Apparently the latest mirrorless cameras can focus on a hair on my wife's chin as it waves in the breeze, I am happy enough to choose something else to focus on through my viewfinder, you get to make your own choices too, enjoy :)
