Beats me, figure someone else might know lol
Or they are and you just don't know it :P
I open 1 file at a time, even if I close the files and just browse, the processes are still there. Hell even when I close Bridge all together, still there.

This is ridiculous, why does Bridge create so many processes? I think this is a new record for me. |

So recently I made an order on Artscow, and the canvas came out a little different than I was expecting. My image is quite green and the coat is a bright red, but the canvas came out quite muted and dark. Is this my fault or Artscow? I've bought a canvas from Costco and it came out quite close to what I see on the screen, so I can only assume this is Artcow's issue. Maybe my calibration is off, but I've viewed my images on multiple computers and comparing to images I've printed, it's pretty close.
The image in the upper left is the preview that Artscow gives you to see how your canvas will look. The big one is the canvas on my wall. |

I've been searching around the interwebs for an action or software that can automatically convert an image into a canvas wrap effect - is there anything like that out there? I've found some tutorials but if there's something more automated I'd rather use that.

They removed my image. It's sad that they used it for over a year, running a profitable news organization, and basically spit on a photographer who they stole from.
Oh well.

Recently a magazine printed an image from the Occupy Toronto protests. I have the image on Flickr under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 2.0 Generic. I place copyright info on each photo I upload, while they did credit me below the photo, they did cut out the copyright info on the bottom of my image.
Does that mean they can print it off without asking or compensating, or should I still contact them about this?

This shot would have been amazing with a little house or a fence. Still a nice shot none the less, but would have been better with a small item to focus on.

I have a polarizing and graduated neutral density filter - but debating whether to get colored ones if Photoshop can essentially do the same in post processing. Are there any favorites you guys love? or hate?

I'm looking for a P-TTL flash for my K-x.
It can be a Pentax brand flash, or anything compatible with my camera.
I need P-TTL and manual control.

I recently started playing around with Niksoftware, and absolutely love it. Only bad thing I noticed the psd file comes out to around 130mb when I'm using smart filters.
Is this normal? Anyway to shrink the size?

The Flickr group terms "By submitting a photo to our flickr group you give CityNews.ca the right to use your photo on our site (with credit/link to you) as well as broadcast your photos on our on-air counterpart on Citytv." if it said "we can modify, crop and edit your photos" there's no way I would join their group.

lol I never communicate by screaming in a situation like this. I might get aggitated if talking with them and they're dismissive, but generally I go in every situation very calm and stable :) I don't think I'd quote the law books, just asking why they cropped my image (which is my major gripe), but I figure I'd ask on the forums before sending off any emails or letters :)
To be fair, they did include my name - it's mostly the cropping and failing to inform me. I gave them the right to use an image on their website or broadcast, but I don't think that include the right to cropping my images.

I asked someone during TIFF this year why his photographer friends don't get a press pass. He said you have to be working for a reputable media organization for a certain amount of years before you can apply for one. I believe it was 3 years.

I recently found an image of mine that CityTV used on their website over a year ago, and noticed they cropped out the small watermark I put in the corner. I put the image in their Flickr group so I give them rights to use the image, but is cropping the watermark a little wrong? I also place the copyright "Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs Creative Commons" on most of my images on Flickr, so it says right there you can't edit it.
Has anyone come across this and any tips? I understand people steal photos all the time, but for a news organization I would expect a little more.

I have never done any HDR in the past, I basically despised it - never liked overblown fake look. But a few days ago I started playing around with HDR and filters, and to be honest, it's quite fun :)
I'm just curious, which of these two is better? |

Quite a dead topic, but I thought I'd give an update :) I upgraded my desktop so I've been using the laptop less, and have yet to come across one corrupted image like what happened in the original post. It could be the transferring using the laptop SD slot, maybe transferring from laptop to external, I have no idea - but I'm not getting corrupted images using a card reader and a usb slot on the back of my desktop.
Thanks all for the help :)
