I will be sure to update the thread with the results.Since they're practically giving K-30's away now, more and more people will be needing the info.

Kirk has a plate for the K-7 that I'll try. It looks like the K-30 dimensions are a tiny bit smaller but maybe it'll work.

I just ordered a K-30 kit with WR lens for US$630 which I thought was a pretty good deal until I saw this!

Does anyone use a Kirk or RRS plate on their K-30 that has a lip? I don't like generic plates since they have a tendency to spin. It doesn't have to be an "L" plate but I would like it to have a strap lug on it.

I'd love to see another general purpose zoom for travel that is WR. The current crop of super-zooms, ala the 18-200's and 18-250's aren't my cup of tea since I need the wide much more often than the telephoto. I think a 15-85 WR would suit me just fine. Canon makes a stabilized lens at this length but it isn't WR.

We've taken to European travel each November, so I wanted a weather-resistant system and the K5/18-55 fits the bill. I have looked at some alternative WR lenses but the added weight and cost have put me back to the 18-55. I'm also looking at the 77mm limited.
I've had an SLR since about 1971 and if I remember correctly it was a Konica Autoreflex. Even put a b&w darkroom in my bathroom at one point.
