Thanks bikecoboss, I might have a look at cloning things out. I've also been trying another slightly different crop with some vignetting that works pretty well, but I won't put ANOTHER one up of this particular scene!
NIce shots Frédéric - as I said on Flickr I really like the one with the blue bridge :)

Thanks for the comments...Here is another one, which was an incredible situation to be in...and shows how photography can be all about the timing and being in the right place at the right time. The trouble is I can't decide which crop to go for - the shots below are the uncropped photo first, and then a series of crops which I'm trying to choose between. Small versions as I know this isn't really the place for multiple versions of the same image!
I know I want to crop it, because I don't want the distraction of the old farm building in the background, but choosing between the other crops (or something else entirely) is causing me problems! The first one was a slightly more rushed setup- tripod shot early in the day, marked where the tripod was and went back later to get the night shot. There wasn't anything in the foreground to remove, but the bit just above is blended at a slightly different spot to get the 'daytime' walkers in, so that might make the foreground blend look more harsh I guess. Ideally I needed a few more shots to make the blend a bit smoother overall. Maybe I'll edit it (having spotted something else I need to edit out anyway)
The second was done with various shots over two hours, tripod remaining in place the whole time.
I really like the idea of using a bit more movement, or possibly blending day and night scenes where daytime pedestrians are completely different to night time pedestrians - would make for an interesting contrast!
Thanks for feedback :)

GnipGnop - that's a great shot, and I love seeing the out of camera shot to see what great work you've put in.

I go away for a few weeks and now I have a load of pages to catch up on!! Look like some great shots everyone!
Here are a couple I got at the end of the working day today! I went to take some photos around my work and found some Chinese students (I think - I didn't actually think to ask when talking to them - duh) taking photos. I asked if I could take a few and they kindly said yes. The light was so nice, and great colours contrasting with the greenery all around! fs999 - Your shots always make me want to buy new lenses...specifically the Sigma and the 15mm (both of which I've been tempted by for some time!). The 15mm is the most tempting because I've yet to really hear a bad word about it!
Jim - what lens did you use for that shot of the boat?
Another one from me, this time using a Cokin Grad ND. It's the first time I've ever used non-screw in filters, think it will take a bit of getting used to! This shot has ended up looking more like the middle of the night than a 4pm sunset! Night or Day by toothpick charlie, on Flickr

First day out with my new ND110 at the weekend...I can see me using this to get some amazingly cliched shots, but maybe I'll come up with something original at some point! Calm by toothpick charlie, on Flickr

You're spot on about her being a nice old lady, but she really is (nearly) that craggy looking in real life...95 years will do that to you! But I completely take on board what you're saying, and I do agree that the processing of the shot does bring out a more dramatic / harsh look (which is kind of what I was going for - first time using Nik SE2). Thanks for the feedback :)
A slightly more flattering (and amusing) shot (posted small as I think I posted it earlier in this thread) of her: Age is just a number... by toothpick charlie, on Flickr

Frédéric, great shots as always.
Here's a shot from last weekend up on Dartmoor here in the UK. I really need to work on my landscape stuff - I never have a tripod with me and I'm not too convinced by my processing for landscapes. Always end up feeling that I've over-done things usually because I'm trying to rescue a poorly shot original! I can never really nail the colours just as I want them, although in this case it might be to do with the lack of sunlight on the scene as much as anything else!
