Thanks Marc, corrected the name.
So I need to shoot in DNG to be able to open and edit in CS2? Or shoot in PEF and then let Pentax software converts to DNG for CS2 to open it - but this means more work...
Thanks

Both K10D and K20D the menu settings are the same but Adobe CS2 don't want to open PEF's from K20D, only from K10D. Why is that please?
Thanks

Thanks again, much appreciated!

My "new" K20D was delivered 1 hour ago, actuations are showing 100-3998... What is going on here? Box was sealed, everything looks brand new. Please advice - is this correct, can one reset the actuations nowadays? Thanks. Gerrie

When i set the mode dial to M and adjust shutter and aperture to my needs, how do i "lock" this ratio for continuous shooting? Example studio shooting. At the moment after every picture i take either the shutter or aperture, changed. Thanks.

If you say a low degree of compression-is this the same as "high" quality conversion? The higher you adjust the quality the less information is lost? With Pentax Photo Browser i've done the conversion from PEF to JPG. The PEF is 16.1MB, converted to JPG=11.2MB. Doing the same using the software FastStone as the converter, i only get 5.21MB. Will this make a huge difference in printing?
Secondly, i've done the trial with one single photo as described above. Then in Pentax Photo Browser i did a batch "JPG extraction" which resulted in the same photo down to 1.42MB (single was 11.2MB). You can't select degree of compression or quality in both actions. Will the 11.2MB JPG be better in quality than the 1.42MB?
Which converter is easy to use (PPBrowser is very slow) and will give good quality conversions? Sorry for throwing so many questions... :confused:Thanks. Gerrie

Thanks guys. Yes, it's more a lack of knowledge on my side than confusion. Will have to do a bit more reading on this.

Converting from Pentax PEF(RAW) to JPG you loose mega bites, why? Does it mean you loose quality for printing? I've done a test, when you convert one PEF at a time rather than select a lot of PEF's and convert to JPG, the file size is bigger when doing one-one? The dimensions of the photo, is that where the quality lies for BIG printing. Sorry guys, bit confused here, help please.. Thanks. Gerrie

Hi to all and thanks for the warm welcome (without the shots!), joking.. Sorry, was away for couple of days, business. It feels like we know you all for a long time, just haven't spoken for a while. Yes, we've been collecting equipment over the years and still enjoy doing that. Guess we'll have to look at more DG equipment at some stage, but, we just love shooting manual and that with a digital body, can you believe it.. Times are changing fast! We've just bought some more secondhand lenses, M f2 50mm, A f2.8 135mm, M f4 300mm, A f5.6 400mm, A 1.4x converter and a M 2x converter. For the ringflash, yes, i use it a lot, great flash. Fits onto the 100mm macro. Promise, this weekend i'm uploading some pics!!:)
