I like how the motion blurring effect of the waterfall softens the picture

I'm a photography enthusiast, but far from an expert when it comes to capturing the "magical shot". However something that helped me early on to get nice looking shots is to use the rule of thirds (golden 1/3, etc). Instead of placing your subject dead center, place it 1/3 from either side (or from top/bottom depending on the scene). That allows for capturing more unbroken background scenery, for instance.

I have various electronics that come with battery chargers that require a 2-prong "double barrel" or "figure 8" cable (see attached photo of cable). It's a pet peeve of mine having to pack/store/find that cable in addition to the AC adapter. I've found that the "duck head" adapters commonly used for Apple power adapters works well. There are other manufacturers that also employ duck head adapters, it's just that the Apple duck heads are the cheapest and most widely available at this time.
Here are some examples. I bought the Ebay one. Search for "duck head" adapter or charger. US AC Power Adapter Wall Plug Duck Head Charger for Apple iBook G3 G4 A1036 45W | eBay Amazon.com: Apple Mac AC Power Adapter US Wall Plug Duck Head for iBook/iPhone/iPod: Computers & Accessories
It works fine on the K-01 charger as well as an old Panasonic Lumix's charger. The duck head doesn't line up completely flush with the back of the charger but it doesn't matter. The prongs are plenty long enough to make contact in the AC outlet. Speaking of prongs, it's handy that they fold up into the duck head to reduce space and scraping against other items in the camera bag.

As a non-pro (e.g. I don't make money doing photography), price is always important. I understand that Pentax needs to make money and with lower volume often comes higher prices. If dropping prices on their current lineup proves challenging, I hope Pentax produces more high quality plastic frame lenses such as the DA 35mm. Sure some people balk at plastic, but in the end the optical quality speaks for itself. I welcome more affordable plastic lenses that retain Pentax's high quality optics.

Thanks all for the feedback. The crop is dead center in the original photo. No UV filter.
I did reset all the settings that I could find (one under Custom, another under the Wrench icon group I believe). All custom settings were at default 1 to begin with though. This seems to have marginally helped the auto-focus hunting with the limited testing I've done. The kit lens looks ok with 0 focus compensation after the reset. However switching to the DA 35mm the extreme back-focus compensation of +130 is needed. I've been testing with the focus chart created by a Nikon D70 user.
Often the first time it attempts to auto-focus, I hear the in-focus beep but nothing from the focus motor. Pressing the shutter halfway multiple times will eventually get it to engage the focus motor. If I don't attempt to auto-focus multiple times on a static subject, chances are good (~50%) that the first focus will be off. I've been using a set of standard NiMH Powerex cells that I don't know the condition of. Could weak batteries contribute to the problem? I will test with a set of Eneloop LSD cells when the sun comes back out.

I bought a used K-x off of fleabay to tide me over while Pentax works out the initial bugs in the K-01. Man I miss the K-7...
This white K-x is in good exterior condition. I immediately noticed that it had severe back-focusing problems. I adjusted to +130 which finally got most photos in focus (18-55mm kit lens and DA 35mm prime). This seems excessive, though other people have posted corrections in the +/- 80 range so maybe that's not unexpected?
It has a tendency to hunt for focus in moderate indoor light. Other cams I've used aren't focus challenged until it gets much darker. Sometimes in bright light or with the built-in flash the photos have a weird ghosting effect (see attached photo). It's a 100% crop of a photo taken with the kit lens @ f/5.6 1/800 ISO-200. Notice how the upward facing edges are smeared, particularly the brightly colored blocks. Indoor shots with the flash have a tendency to smear like this resulting in fuzzy shots. Come to think of it, this happens without the flash too.
I'd estimate maybe 1/3 of my shots are decently sharp. The rest either focus on the wrong location (center spot focus) or end up with the smeared ghosting effect. It's really been frustrating and I'm trying to figure out if I should pursue returning the camera or if this is just the way the K-x behaves.
Thanks for any help!

It's apparent to me that he went for a retro design. Kinda cool in that regard, but not necessarily my style. Still, if it takes great photos I'll consider buying one.
The lack of EVF isn't that big a deal. Looking through a tiny peephole is such an archaic way of taking photos. True that under bright conditions a VF has an advantage, but as long as the LCD is transflective or employs similar technology so that it's usable in bright sunlight, then removing the EVF isn't a problem. It all boils down to how well they implement the LCD, whether it's fast, low latency, and can operate under all lighting conditions.
I voted 3/5 based on ID alone. It's likely I would bump it up to 4 or 5 if it performs well.
