Another colourful bird from the Chobe, the saddle billed stork. In my mind I call it the clown bird

Both with the KP and DA*300 F4

The first one of a Himba kraal. The Himba's are a pastoral tribe in Namibia's North Western corner, very much a desert, but they are making a living there for centuries and still do.

The second black and white shot is in the same area of a very upmarket lodge, using local culture and architecture

135 mm not supposed to be perfect for wildlife, but hey, you can get some surroundings in as well. And it is spectacular. Desert adapted elephant in the Hoanib river

It is a special place and with the rare water even more so. You do need to be very early before the wind starts and it is about a forty mile drive and then 20 minute walk through the dunes, but very much worth it

Triops granarium A desert adapted crustacean about 5 mm Their eggs will stay dormant in temperatures of up to 60 degrees C until the very infrequent rains is enough to fill some of the pools Maybe once in 5 years. Looks like a miniature horseshoe crab

Taken through the water with 100mm 2.8 Macro

Different species sometimes sold as tadpole shrimp
