Here's my take on your picture. I did a histogram adjustment and moved the black point higher. Then adjusted the midtones. Corel paintshop pro has a very useful feature called salt and pepper filter which removes small spots that are usually found on film. Didn' remove all the scratches because it;s 40C here and I'm lazy as one can be today. Then added a little clarity and some local contrast enhancement. After that just burned the area of the car to give it a subtle separation from the background.
Also have a look at one of my past restoration attempts.
Constructive criticism is welcome.

Hello, my name is Gabriel from Romania, 26 years old. I recently became the proud owner of a problem free (until now) K5, which by the way is my first dslr, my first camera was a Canon A430. The K5 was the normal choice for me as I mostly like to shoot industrial photography(especially steel mills) and those kind of places are loaded with dust, also lighting is a big issue so the K5's sensor proved the most adequate. I'm still developing my skills but the K5 got me reading a lot about the subject because I'm trying to make the most of this wonderful camera. Have to say I held my breath when I opened the box and turned it on for the first time, I was really afraid of the sensor stains. But here I am 4000 clicks later and no problem.
Also I'm interested in European medieval martial arts (that is hitting the other guy on the head with a 4 foot piece of steel :)) ), arms and armour, medieval reenactment and swordsmithing. I have also founded a medieval reenactment organization in my home town which has the most beautiful medieval castle in Romania. When I'm not dressed in 500 year old clothing I work as a powertrain electronics engineer for a German automotive components supplier.

Also recently I became very interested in digitally restoring old photos as the whole photographic archive of the steel plant from my home town came into my possession. Thats at least 5000+ pictures waiting to be properly restored, so I got my work cut out from me, I will be asking for advice on some of the photos:)
The archive spans 110 years from 1884 to 1994. Most of them are 35mm films and 120 medium format films but also around 100 glass plate negatives and tons of paper photos.

As far as my photographic equipment goes I now use the mentioned K5 with 18-55mm kit lens, 50mm f2 Pentax M lens, 28mm f2.8 Sigma M42 and an Exacta 70-210mm M42 zoom lens, thanks goes to my girlfriends dad for lending those three manual lenses to me indefinitely :) . For the future I'm planning on some FA*s and a medium format film camera with a tilt-shift lens, as soon as my budget allows this kind of investment :)), anywhere between 2 years and the second coming of Jesus.
You can check out some of my early pictures here

Cheers!
