I enjoy watching and occasionally photographing backyard birds
Show me your birds! does not matter if they are flying, still, etc.
I will start with a few of my favorites :)
Thanks!

This thread is just for the love of cats. Kittens are of course the cutest, but anything cat related is fine
I will start with mine. We call her "the bird"

The thing I always take into consideration is if the lens is too wide you can crop in. If it is not wide enough, then there isn't a darn thing you can do about it.
I would choose a slightly wider lens for your uses... but like others say when it comes to portraits don't go to wide.
Cheers
Randy.

Hi
My first lens was a Sigma 17_70 and can tell you it is too slow at 70mm which I found it was there the majority of the time.
If you can't afford the 50-135 advertise on the forums you are looking for one with broken SDM and concerted to screw drive. Saves $$ and the focus is in fact faster then SDM
Good luck
Randy

when you look at the K1 as a whole, having a 5 year old sensor with a few extra perks (lights near the camera mounts, astro tracer etc) it isn't ground breaking
but to a Pentaxian they are :D
maybe this is how they kept the price down.

pardon if this has already been posted
An airplane was about to crash. There were 4 passengers on board, but only 3 parachutes.
The 1st passenger said, 'I am Steph Curry, the best NBA basketball player. The Warriors and my millions of fans need me, and I can't afford to die.' So he took the 1st pack and left the plane.
The 2nd passenger, Donald Trump, said, 'I am the newly-elected US President, and I am the smartest President in American history, so my people don't want me to die.' He took the 2nd pack and jumped out of the plane.
The 3rd passenger, the Pope, said to the 4th passenger, a 10-year-old schoolboy, 'My son, I am old and don't have many years left, you have more years ahead so I will sacrifice my life and let you have the last parachute.'
The little boy said, 'That's okay, Your Holiness, there's a parachute left for you. America 's smartest President took my schoolbag

if you flip it around, if you use F11 virtually any camera with enough shutter speed can stop the action.
I use F2.8 with my DA*200 lots with my K3 shooting baseball :)

I don't know about an exact copy, but I think Pentax could make the 4 way controller easier to use. I find it very slow to move around as far as choosing a focus point goes

if you want to have an eye in focus and are constantly changing from portrait to landscape mode IMHO

I had the K10 and the low light performance was terrible. had this big camera around my neck and people wanted to see the pics, only to show them mostly blurred or very grainy pics.
I still have the K5iis along with the K3.. the best thing that happened to me is having the K10 die in a rain storm... it is THAT much better. your keeper rate of kids running or using high ISO is just that much better
good luck!

some manufacturers are moving to lower pixel count to improve low light performance. doesn't Nikon claim the magic number is 20 MP?
Thanks

if I was in the market, I would easily trade the astrotracer, video improvements, and possibly GPS for better autofocus
