I acquired a monopod specifically for this lens when I first bought it. However, I've hardly ever used it, nor have I used my tripod much. At least 99% of my shots with the DFA 150-450 are hand held. The tripod foot is a very convenient handle. I use it with the Peak Design slide strap.

We also get only one year warranty in Australia. However, the official importer/agent CRK continues to offer a good repair service at a reasonable price beyond that. They even sent one of my post-warranty repairs to Japan when it was beyond their expertise, and the cost was moderate.

Recently my K1 (original version) has missed the first shot when I first turn it on for the day. It records a blank picture. After that it behaves normally, even after turning off and on to change lenses.
That first shot is accompanied by an unusually heavy "thunk", which makes be think it's mirror-related in some way. I am concerned that it's a harbinger of doom, but it doesn't seem to be getting worse.

I love this lens. I found it unexpectedly in an out-of-the-way camera shop last year, and it has been a revelation. As a special tip: try it for extreme close-ups wide open. The bokeh is delightful.

Some people leave their (paid) software un-updated for two or three years instead of paying for annual updates, which is fair enough. But eventually the cumulative weight of enhancements often makes an update worthwhile. Not an issue for free software of course.

The official K1 II price in Australia is Aus$3399, which is €2049 at current exchange rates. This includes 10% tax (GST).
However, I never buy camera gear at these official prices. I always either wait for one of the periodic 10% sales, or buy it from a retailer who has a better price. For example Ted's is currently selling the K1 II for Aus$2900 = €1749, and they are not normally the cheapest.

I looked at both for quite a while, before your comment, and decided that the colour version had a more ethereal look but the B&W had more punch. It's good to have the option.

Pulling the camera strap tight around the back of my neck to essentially fix the camera to my head always helped for me. I don't often use a camera strap these days though.

Thanks for the first-hand review. Your comments seem consistent with other reviews I have read.

I use the DA 70 Ltd on my K1 and am very happy with the results, so I've never felt a need for the FA 77 Limited. Nevertheless, it would be fun to try and to compare.

I frequently look at a colour photo in post processing and find it uninteresting but when converted to B&W it pops or brings a completely different feel. Not for all photos, but for more than a few.

The K3iii monochrome goes on special here every couple of months, and I am sorely tempted each time. I'm starting to run out of photographic ideas in my usual haunts; the monochrome would make everything new again.
The article is very reasonable, and very much in line with most of the reviews I have read.

Four cameras in the pipeline. I'll pass on the half-frame, but let's see what else they have up their sleeves.

Ricoh keeps telling us the camera business is doing well, so I don't think they're a basket case. I agree though that more new releases (I'm looking at you K1iii) would provoke far higher sales. At the moment I too have just about everything I want or need. My last buy was a serendipitous second hand discovery.

I enjoy the DA 16-85 so much (notwithstanding its slower speed) that I've never felt the need for a 16-50 of either variety. So it is probably best that I never discover how good they really are.
If your SDM version is still working, it doesn't sound like there's much necessity for the upgrade.

My K5 served me very well at the time, though the lens release button did fall off (repaired).
If you could find a K5ii at a similar price, it would be an even better buy.
