Spotmatic SPII black bottom plate needed

That's my thought as well. I've found a bottom plate for a SP1000/SP500? It's been a while since I've had one of those in my hand, but if I remember correctly this is identical to the SPII bottom plate?

Spotmatic SPII black bottom plate needed

Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'm after a Spotmatic SPII bottom plate in black. I have a SPII that it's great working condition however, the bottom plate has suffered battery corrosion at some point in its life and the plastic "holder" and contact for the battery is missing. I'm in the UK, I know the postage from the US will likely be too pricey. Any help would be great.

EDIT:

I just had another thought, Is it possible to buy one in chrome and then just remove the plastic "holder"? I know that black plates are harder to come by.

Thanks! I'm currently doing commercial work for a fair few local businesses and starting to dabble into the odd wedding.

My trust Pentax MX, I used it extensively during my last year of my photography degree and shot a whole documentary project with it. The prints are a few of final images I chose at the end of the project that I printed in my darkroom.

When I first bought it during my third year of my degree, I was told that it could do with a CLA but it was working. So it arrived, I ignored the warnings of a CLA from the seller and I loaded the first roll of film...and halfway through it jammed. whoops! I then sent it in to Harrow Technical in London for repair and CLA. It had a new cocking rack assembly fitted and it works and feels like an absolute dream, that was a year and half ago now.

After all these years after starting this thread, I love to pop back on and look through all your fantastic photographs people have uploaded. It really is a great place to get inspiration! Since starting this thread, I finished school, did my A-levels, then I went on to finish my degree in photography last year. I now work as a freelance photographer. I still carry a Pentax camera where ever I go. I bought a Pentax MX in black during my last year of university and used it exclusively for one of my documentary projects, I remember seeing the MX on here in black years ago and craved for one, I knew I'd get one eventually!

It's moves, and it's about 3/4 of the way around however it will not wind the last little bit, if you open the back and wind it on,you see the Shutter move more, however, it moves back again like it can't complete it's full cycle

I recently got a spotmatic II , however sometimes it's a bit sticky, and the mirror doesn't come back down, and you have to wind and fire again for it to come back down again, this mainly happen's alot on the slower speeds, not really on the faster speeds there all fine, the mirror bumper is a bit grubby, however it's not goo yet, and it's not marking the mirror stick at all, however the camera has been in stoarge for 10+ years, any ideas? will winding it on and firing eventually get rid of this?

A couple of weeks ago i was looking to get a spotmatic, however i held myself back and decided to wait, it paid off well, my uncle gave me his Spotmatic II with 5 lenses aswell as a massive leather camera bag, with other accessories like flash bracket etc.
