It is, yes. It's just the optics of the old K/A 1.7 put in to a new AF mount. Though all DA lenses are labelled as APSC, it's been tested to work fine on FF film. There's threads about FF compatibility around if you want to search. Also RiceHigh's Pentax Blog: Compatibility of DA Lenses on Full Frame as a quick reference (obviously someone here keeping it up to date; this was a google result).

Sounds like a good reason to upgrade to a K30 or the now cheap K5. Why stress over such an old body? All electronic devices die. Seven years is a good life. The learning curve to a new body isn't big, since the menu systems and button placements are largely the same. You know how to use your old camera, so a new one won't be a big deal to get to grips with, yet offer better... everything.
Not trying to be unhelpful, it just strikes me as odd to go through much effort to get an old device working again. This is the consumer age, most electronics are designed to die after a few years so you get a new model. Seven years is an exceptionally long lifespan by any modern standards. As unfortunate as it is, it's just how things are.

I was watching my Kaze no Stigma DVDs today and spotted this:
Standard practice in anime to change a letter (Samy/Somy, Mansung, etc) to avoid having to pay rights. But clearly a K10 there. Even if I don't think there is such a thing as 18-45...

I didn't realise the K-5 was so much quieter. I have a K-r, and I think the K-30 uses the same mirror box from the K-r? But wow the K-5 is quiet.

A lot of the debate I see is simply a matter of keeping up with the Jonses. Canikon have FF, so why don't we?
I do understand there are technical reasons to favour FF, though I doubt many of them really matter, ultimately. You can capture great images with APS-C, and as long as you're not doing large prints, there's no -real- reason to go FF for the majority.
I do, however, hope Pentax do release one, so people sell their K5s and I can grab one at a nice price. :)
