Good call on the weight difference. I have limited experience with using lens protection in the rain, so the peace of mind is what attracts me to this lens... Thanks!

I apologize for yet another "what lens thread", but I could use some advice from those of you who have used either/or both of these lenses.
I'm looking to expand my reach to 200mm primarily for indoor sports, some outdoor motorsports, and nature with a TC down the road.
My indecision revolves around the benefit of weather sealing in the DA* and the versatility of the Tamron.
Pros of DA*200:
- pro grade optics
- excellent IQ
- weather sealing
Cons of DA*200:
- limited experience with primes
- SDM (?)
- higher cost
Pros of Tamron:
- zoom (obvious)
- sharp @ 2.8
- lower cost
Cons of Tamron:
- no weather sealing
- slowish AF
I'm bouncing this inner decision off the board to see if I'm missing anything...
Thanks,
Adam

for hand held, that's pretty good motion sensation. i cut about 10% off the bottom to isolate the waterfall and not the little drop off

are henry's in store prices lower than online? it seems like they are trying to drive traffic into the store that would otherwise just order it on line (not even likely on thier sit, bh etc)

a vertical crop would look better, make it tight to eliminate the distracting background elements

a bit more space on top as the others mentioned, maybe try overexposing it a tad to give it a more artsy look

i haven't tried the 55-300, but i'm guessing its better by enough to justify the added cost. i kept my 50-200 for about a month before selling it
