Meet Daisy Mae and Maggie. Daisy Mae is an agoraphobic pig who loves her "pig sty". Maggie is an elderly cat who snuggles with her best friend whenever she can. Life is so much better when you have a friend to lean on.

This is the photo after applying Bruce's suggestions - a slight boost to contrast and saturation.

Thanks, Christian! I appreciate your comments. I don't believe I cropped this in post, but will definitely check it out. I also have to remember that I am working with an aps-c lens on a full frame camera. I probably filled the inner frame of the viewing screen without leaving space around the ship. The viewfinder shows more than the capture. Some day I'll buy a full frame lens to replace the Sigma.

Mystic Seaport is a working maritime history museum. It is home to many historic ships, such as the L.A. Dunton.

This lioness is a resident of the Popcorn Park Zoo in Forked River, New Jersey. The Popcorn Park was established in 1977 for the sole purpose of providing a refuge for wildlife that were sick, elderly, abandoned , abused, or injured, and which could no longer survive in its natural habitat. As time went on, the zoo expanded to include exotic and domestic animals. All the residents once faced these circumstances, as well as exploitation and illegal ownership. Over 200 of these animals and birds now live in spacious surroundings in the heart of the scenic Pine Barrens in southern New Jersey. Every resident has a story and every resident is allowed to live the rest of its life in peace.
I've been visiting this zoo for close to 40 years and have witnessed its growth and expansion. Years ago the animals were less caged. The deer and goats wandered freely among the residents. Geese were in an abundance. Peacocks roamed freely. About five years ago, a group of drunken teens broke into the zoo and slaughtered many animals. The cages went up to protect the animals, not the people.
The zoo is called Popcorn Park because visitors purchase popcorn to feed to the residents. The elephant and camel has since passed on, but four baboons have recently been rescued along with bobcats and cougars. If you are in the area, take the time to visit this zoo and its residents. Feed them popcorn and peanuts. Take your camera. Enjoy the day!

Snowglobe 2015 is a composite image constructed from 4 images and various Photoshop techniques. I photographed two wine goblets against a black background. The most ornate one was the base of the snowglobe. I created a mask around the 2nd wine goblet's "bowl" and cut it away from the image. I then inverted the selection and set it in place on top of the first goblet. I opened the girl's photo, masked and removed her from the background. I then placed her inside the Snowglobe as a smart object. She was resized and positioned. The white tree was cut from it's selection and placed inside the snowglobe. A perspective warp was applied; the image was copied, reversed and placed on the other side. I created a border around the image and text underneath to create a gallery print. All images were opened and adjusted prior to creating the composite.

During the holiday season, I love photographing snow scenes. To bundle up and trek through nature has become a part of my soul. I live at the Jersey Shore and the Christmas season has always been cold...until this year. I can definitely say that 70° on Christmas day was not in the plans. Then came the rain...and lots of it! So I set up the cameras inside and photographed different angles of the tree. Instead of navigating slippery slopes, I climbed across my pot-belly pig and three cats who were all bound and determined to help. What's a little help among friends??? This photo was among the keepers of the day.
