ok so ill just answer you guys in on post.
MJL: no need to replace halios, cost 20$ so wont get no money for it, might as well keep it.
alphanerd: im out looking for performance. but if you guys think the fa 50 1.4 is enough then ok. just the reviews on here give a better score to the 43 and 77.
seventysixersfan: the lenses i mention all cost about the same (some ebay some new). i got the kit lens as well (18-55 wr) but forgot about it since i dont use it. i never really considered a lens between 8 and 50 since i dont feel i need it (enthusiast photographer at best). but maybe the sigma 30 at a later point. dont need to fast a lens.
hcc: ill look at it. but the 31 seems to be the most expensive of the three (31-43-77) and should it be my first buy of the bunch?
cmohr: dont know anything about quick shift (need to leave for work soon so no time for google) but WR is never a bad thing :)
twitch: my thoughts where to sell it and replace it with some thing better, an upgrade if you will. cause it would go along way financing a fa43/fa77/da55. but maybe i shouldn't?

so i want to get some more/better zoom capabilities with my camera, and was looking at this, seems to be a good lens. what do you guys think of it, and are there other lenses at that price range i should look at (used on ebay etc).
i was thinking i would like at least a 400mm so i can capture wildlife better since im allot outdoors :)
ps. i got a telescope with a 2x barlow so i got a 2600mm lens

so i have been looking around at a few lenses, more specifically the fa43, fa77 and the da55. but im not sure witch way to go, and maybe there are other lenses out there you guys think i should choose.
heres my equipment when considering alternatives.
k-7, samyang 8mm, smc fa 50 f1.4, helios 58 f2, sigma 70-300.
the 50mm has been my standard lens for a long time, but i find im tempted by the FAs. my thoughts are that maybe the 43 is more versatile as a primary lens then the 77, and could just use the helios for portraits if needed.
ps the shitty sigma 70-300 is just cause im out camping allot and needed a cheap zoom.

so my camera hit the ground hard and now my focus point indicators are gone, or more specifically some are gone, but the ones around the center are gone, and those are the ones i use. its not a big deal. but do anybody know if there is a fix for this or do i just have to bite the dust and bring it in to a vendor for fixing

do you think a 2x teleconverter would be any use on one of these lenses?
tcbubbleleo: yeah maybe, gonna look now. but you know, import taxes and shipping isnt always that cheap, often end up costing the same as a new

i find i use it allot. i am just wondering if i should upgrade before i go to Svalbard. a group of us are going to spend 14 days with skis and sled. ill probably want to photograph allot when there since we are going to spend time on glaciers, mountains and probably see some polar bears :)

yeah 60-250 is probably a good lens, but id think id rather have the 55-300 + 43 limited and cash to spare. im no pro so a lens at that price just wont be put to good use by me

well, should i upgrade? the 55-300 is about 500$ here, the sigma is 160$ so i wont get much money for it. so is it worth the price?

yeah wonder about this too with the k7 1.10 upgrade. why do i have sharpness, fine sharpness and fine sharpness+. whats the difference. never bothered to test differences.

so ive seen test, forum posts on this, but still, if anybody has any experience with both, is it worth the upgrade, or should i just stay with the sigma?
i would like a faster, fixed lens lens, but dont got the money for it :(

yeah i don't really know, i have the 50 on all the time, kit lens is pretty much out. and i am a outdoors person so i spend a lot of time on mounts and in forests so i do use the zoom, but i just think is just so not sharp. so i might go for zoom first

i dont think ill miss the little i lose in aperture. yes i looked at that too, but seems like people are more fond of the limited lenses.

i don't get why apple doesn't realize a final cut x and a final cut pro x would be what people need, one is the pro tool editor love, and one is the iMovie pro version that everyone else would love. but i guess people are stupid and two version would confuse.
BTW i had some lag issues with my late 08 macbook alu (2.4ghz, 6gbram) and found that if you turn of background processes FCX is much faster and no lag in playback etc.

hmmm maybe they are on this forum? pentax seems to have only realesed a silver with black top and black with silver top, and the yellow one. no other colors, and not one that is black with black top. so this one is weird since i havnt seen a official pic like this, so this is strange

i got an old Russian Helios, its m42 screw mount so i needed a adapter, but it takes awesome pics. but slightly a yellowish tint to them, but that is just the radiation in the old glass and is to be expected from a lens from the 70s. i payed 25$ for it :)
but i found that manual focus can be cumbersome, especially if your trying to shoot animals. so i also bought a smc 50mm 1.4. so i say invest some money right away and buy a solid prime if you don't get one of these for cheap. your not going to regret a smc 50mm f1.4 :)

i live in Norway and have only had the chance to shoot northern lights once. it came out ok. but it wasn't that much to see in the sky that night either. don't remember my settings, but just take some shoots and you'll figure it out.
here is a time laps, didn't turn out to good, but i think i had the camera for about 1 month at the time, and this is my first dslr. k7 by the way with kit lens. hadn't bought more at the time. Northern lights - YouTube |

pentax is like apple, people who don't one one think we are silly for buying one, and feel a deep need to tell us that they feel this way and that they are right. while we don't really say much other then you have a nice camera too, but i want Pentax, deal with it.
when i decided i wanted a DSLR i looked allot around to find something i liked. at first i was sure i was going for a canon. but a guy in my class had a Pentax and after looking at them i realized that a k7 was a perfect fit for me. i am a lot outdoors, mountaineering, paddle sports etc. and so a waterproof semi pro cam that doesn't cost shit loads and has superb glass. i was sold.
