Having read all the comments on this thread I was concerned that I may also have a dud copy of the 16 - 50 lens.
I decided to test it myself using a newspaper as the test image.
I set the K10 on a tripod and focused at did tests at the long and short end of the zoom.
First test were at 2.8 and lo and behold the left side of the image was out of focus.
I then stopped down and found it was all IN focus.
I deduced from this that the camera may not be square to to test object.
I then spent quite a bit of time and care setting up the camera back SQUARE to the image plane.
Ran the same test and the images were perfect at 2.8.
My lens id good!:D

I think you will find that all you need to do is to download the latest RAW Converter from Adobe which is a plugin for Photoshop and will automatically open the PEF files for conversion to TIFF or JPEG after Post Processing.

In my ignorance and to enlighten me I should like to know, 'Whats the point in using both Lightroom ansd Picasa.
I thought both could be used for raw image developing and filing.
Am I wrong?
I am looking for a very slick workflow and if possible get rid of CS2. Maybe Lightroom and Elements.
Any thoughts.

It is here. K10D that is. At last our waiting is over, battery charging at this very minute and will give the camera a first run tomorrow.
I will try to post a few samples of Malta.
