I agree with JohnX, I use a standard similar dry bag for waterproof, but I don't know about floating depend on how much air you leave in the bag before sealing.

Battery Grip Power Options

I'll answer two parts to your question, although the first wasn't one....
1) Stick with getting the original Pentax grip, although the other are cheaper it will fit properly. Why do I say this, because the cheap grip I got for my K-7 (and which is suppose to be compatible) dose not fix, the location pin are a little tighter (unless its just my copy of the K-5II)

2) IMO I get better (longer) performance from the 2300 than the AA's, and its a lot easer to carry 2/4/6 2300's than it is to carry 6/12/18 AA's

???? Exposure and WB are not the same thing. Getting your exposure correct will not fix the WB and visa-versa.

what exactly is not working.

The setting for WB is set until you change it.
Don't forget that WB is situational, meaning: the WB you set for that shot under that lighting (in broad terms) may not be correct for the next location. even if you change rooms in your house, the reflective ambient lighting from furniture/walls and the amount of natural light (coming at the particular time of the day) changes.

I general I shoot in AWB because I shoot RAW and can correct it in Lightroom and DXO, the consistence of the lighting changes (inside/outside) throughout a single shoot.
If I am shooting in the same lighting for the whole day or shoot, then I will us one of the pre-sets or grey card it.

select WB and scroll down to the icon that looks like two wedges under a box. Arrow right twice, the screen should display Manual WB - Shutter Adjust.... take a photo now of your Grey Card... the screen will then display your image with a green selection box to more accurately choose the grey area... press ok until you are back to your setting screen and your set to go.

Images are of my K-7 but its the same process even on my K-5ii

Picked up a bargain on fleebay. A smc Pentax DA* 50-135mm f2.8 ED [IF] SDM for $730 (they retail price in Australia is $1349 from Pentax). Glass is clean all the way through, no dust. Looks like it has never been used, just no box or paperwork.

Yes...

what I have done to get around this is create user presets for both of these lenses so I can batch correct my images.
when you create each preset make sure that only lens correction setting are ticked, else you add everytime the image correction from what ever image you created the preset to your new images.

what lenses are they exactly, I can export my presets if you want them (see lenses in my sig)

I agree with vonBaloney. I killed a camera year ago, strapping my camera bag on to the back of my motorcycle, the vibration broke the motherboard.
I was a Lowpro SlingShot 102 AW for mountain biking and general. It's side loading and well padded and come with its own rain coat.

Nature The Italian Gardner (photo heavy)

Once a month, a mysterious thing happens in our wonderful rose garden.
You never see it occur, but you know it has happened. The Italian Gardener has been at it again!

Is there something wrong with thorny rosebushes have beautiful flowering heads all over them?
Are they too colourful for our garden?
Are the too much for the gardeners eyes to bear and posses him like Medusa when he looks at them, turns him into Edward Scissorhands without remorse?
Dose the wonderful aromatic scent of these beautiful roses drive the Italian Gardener into wild cutting frenzy?

This is why most of the time you never see our beautiful rose uploaded here, by the time I finish breakfast of a Saturday morning, they have already been decapitated and strewn all over the garden. Poor things.....
So I though I capture their demise before they decompose into the abyss of the long green grass.

IMO.... In all these images, what I see in not just a slight increase in sharpness but a huge increase in the 'black point'. There is a lot more Black in the detail on the DP2 images than on the K5, which may mislead the eye to think it is sharper...

after lens change K7 would not shoot??

This is true when the Aperture is NOT in the "A" position regardless of the "PERMITTED" function (in green mode)

As most will suggest, if you are going to use a manual lens (which this one falls into that category) you can't use 'green mode'. I would suggest for beginners, try to use 'Av mode' (which I call half manual) and leave the lens locked in 'A' position. this allow you to set the aperture and ISO and the camera will still set the shutter speed for you

You may have also noticed that all of the custom setting in the menu are hided as well in green mode.

K5II & K5IIs to PK_Tether test request

G'Day Pentaxians

I put the question to Tomasz whether PK_Tether is working with the new version of the K5 (this may/not also also apply to K30, I'm not sure)

He has sent me a version for testing, the only problem is I don't have the new K5II/s yet :(

So as a request, Is there anybody interested in running this version to see if there are any issues and then forward the debug report to me and I will Email them on to Tomasz

This newer version will create its own debug report and place it in the same folder and the program and setting folder (as usual)

Please PM me your Email address and I will Email and I will send you the file.
