Since a number of Pentax users have complained about attempting to get IR camera conversions done by a company in Utah, I should report on an excellent experience I just had with a company in Massachusetts: Digital Silver Imaging.
I sent DSI my old K10D about a month ago for IR conversion. The camera was returned to me in less than two weeks, with the camera cleaned and the conversion done. The result was excellent. Since I shoot mostly very wide (10-17mm zoom and 15mm prime) DSI asked me to send them the camera with the fisheye zoom attached so that they could calibrate it for wide lenses. This they did.
They charged me $260, but till the end of November they're having a sale and will convert DSLRs and hybrids for $199.
(I'm not affiliated with the company but really like what they did!) Here's a sample: there are a couple more in my gallery.

Expensive filters are absolutely NOT the best. I have bought filters by B+W and they are rubbish. Two of them have literally come to pieces. You can buy "Agfa" branded polarizers made in China for a few bucks. So far none of these have fallen apart.

Does full frame make any difference if the photographer doesn't make prints?
What number of Forum users still make prints? It would be interesting to know.

I have taken thousands and thousands of digital photos and made a total of three framed prints. The rest sit on my computer (together with the RAW and DNG files) plus a couple of backup drives, and when I am gone no one will think to look at them. I am having fun, however.

Have we forgotten the Pentax 10-17mm zoom? That should serve your purpose very well!

I already have a monochrome Pentax camera. It cost me approx. $500.
It's a K-01 body (which cost less than $300) with a 720 nm IR filter (installed for $200). This produces monochrome images (with an occasional tinge of colour in the sky or with certain light sources). Of course, they are infrared and so the leaves are white, not green. But the image is extremely sharp and - given that the Monochrom costs $8000 - the camera is something of a bargain.

If you would like to shoot decent DSLR video you could buy a Pentax K-01 on Ebay for about $200.
