There's a new firmware update for the K-r,
Download: Latest K-r Firmware Update : Software Downloads | RICOH IMAGING
Changes to V1.14
- Correspond to the AF assist light function by white LED light for auto flash unit [AF360FGZII] and [AF540FGZII].
- Optimized contrast AF when using HD PENTAX-DA Limited series lenses.
- Improved stability for general performance.
*If the collaboration model is updated with this software, original start-up screen is deleted and it is changed to standard start-up screen.
*Contents of [Version 1.13] and earlier version will be also updated.
I'm about to flash it, so i hope there will be some improvements :P at least for non-HD-Pentax-DA lens......

Hello fellow pentaxians,
i got a Agfa 50mm f1.9 manual lens. It's a K-mount lens, and there is a trigger (not sure if that's the right word for it) for setting the aperture of the lens.

The problem is, the camera doesn't detect that 'trigger' and i can't set the aperture value. With this lens attached the camera is working only in M and Av modes, and everything needs to be set manualy - i'm ok with that, as i don't require a fast decisions for making photos, i'm an amateur.
Is there any "cheat" or tweak i can do? I don't see any mechanical damage on the back (on the mount) side.
Oh, and there is not A (as for Auto) on the aperture ring :)
Sorry if i'm not stating the problem clear enough, hope You'll understand :)

Yes, like onggie said, you have to extract the file FWDC208B.bin. Just double click on the file u downloaded (kr_e113w.exe) and select folder to extract.
You need the FWDC208B.bin file transferred to SD card.
Good luck, and don't forget: battery must be full before doing this update.

i recommend updating to the newer firmware... as previously mentioned by many pentax users, updates come with fixes that they don't mention :)
Anyway, the camera works as it should, it's not non-functional... this is a official update.

Just saw that there is a firmware update to version 1.13
Changes to V1.13
- Optimized contrast AF when using [HD PENTAX-DA 560mmF5.6ED AW] lens.
- Improved stability for general performance.

Ok, your upload looks ok :)
I'll try to take a few photos at the same fountain or somewhere with a blue highligh... and see what will happen... :)
So, this is not an issue for a service repair? I must ask... :P

Dear Pentax forum, i'm here with another question (searched on google and the results were in most a BLUE K-r offers for purchase) and didn't gave me the answer I was looking for...
Look at this two photos...
Photo1 and 2 are JPG, a lightroom export with no changes applied....

The blue, is not good at all!
So is this a lens fault or the sensor?

DeadJohn, tnx for your comment on my photo :)
I tried different exposure settings, and this was the photo i liked the most :) I think, even at ISO12800 the photo is not ruined.....
If i get a clear sky this evening, i'll make a few new photos with the ISO1600-3200 at longer exposures :)

i agree with you..
canon collects many points on their aftermarket firmwares.... firmwares that use the hardware in full!

well, flashed it aaand :) Not much at first sight... but, i think that AF is more accurate than before (maybe a placebo) and in the menu is the GPS option... everything is still here (even my settings... the internal battery works :D)... anyway... i have this new firmware for less than an hour... i was on v1.0 for six months, so along with using the k-r maybe i'll see some overall improvement :)
Pentax should "enable" a lot of other features... after all, this is not only a photo equipment... it is a computer, with a big sensor and lens, too :D

the changelog doesn't reveal all the things, it says only some sdxc support :P
i'm charging my battery, and will flash the new firmware (1.12) and see for my self what are the "new" features :D

other hiden updates? :D please explain :) What are the benefits of updating the firmware? I looked the changelog .... and the hiden updates are hiden :D
