All of the Sigma and Tamron lenses we ever tried couldn't hold a candle to the originals. When we look at wedding photos we have done with Tamron or Sigma compared to the ones we have done with Pentax or Minolta it is embarrassing!

Wait 'til you try one... they are not only thinking outside the box, they are blazing a trail that the more advertised makers are going to be forced to follow!

JHD,
We shot with all 3 of those cameras and they were great! I think that is what lead us to Sony cameras. We sold all these models to some of our photographers so we still get to edit the results. They are excellent cameras and produce better photos than the Canons and Nikons we get photos from. The Pentax photos are much closer to true color. :D

I had a non Sony Beta HiFi and wished they stayed with that format. The sound was much better and the size was nice.
On the other hand the A77 is awesome!

We shot Pentax for over 20 years and shot over 200,000 photos with K20Ds in our wedding photography business. Switched to Sony A55s last year and shot another 200,000 photos with no issues. Just got our 1st A77 2 weeks ago... a little bigger than the K20D was but about the same weight. Absolutely stunning photos right out of the camera! Shot 2 weddings with uniquely bad lighting and have 3500 beautiful, sharp, well lit photos to show for it. Of course we use Minolta lenses exclusively. None of the issues with the A77 have happened to us yet and we've shot about 5,000 photos. Just ordered our 2nd one and we're trying the new Sony 16-50MM 2.8 and putting it head to head against our awesome Minolta 17-35 2.8-4. The technology on these things is incredible. With Sony's new lineup of A35, A65, and A77 they'll probably take 1st place in all 3 categories. Sony is also planning on pushing these 3 hard for video enthusiasts :D

Sony is updating firmware later this week for the A77/65. It seems that they used firmware for the old bionz processor in the 1st release and will be significantly cleaner after the upgrade.

We've had our A77 for 2 weeks and 2 weddings without problems and decided to sell our 2 A55s and get another one. The 2 weddings we shot were both abnormally bad lighting conditions and the A77 handled them with magazine quality photos right out of the camera :D
