I hope DSLR's don't have to make a come back but that is the unfortunate part about the marketing, The manufactures are putting pressure on the retailers to push mirrorless. I just bought 2 D500's last October and when I go to my local camera store, same salesman by the way... he is always showing me the Z cameras even though he is the same person I just bought the DSLR's from. He knows I'm not going to bite that hook but keeps pushing anyways probably cause his boss is watching.. I may have to go online only.

Someone that wants their first ILC is going to pushed into the lowest level mirrorless with an ugly upgrade path to boot.

]Thanks for sharing this market data (from a rumor site... ok)… So this rumor site may not be truthful?

My point is that the market is smaller (and your data confirm just that)……… but it's a rumor site... ok. Well at least you found something to confirm your personal narrative

more cameras will not result in more sales...…… How about Pentax releasing "NO" cameras, how are those sales going so far?? Pentax is the only one not trying

Ricoh doesn't show up at an unknown to the rest of the world photo exhibition and it makes the headline news on Pentax forum...………. I'm sure to some people, this photo exhibition is very important..... and then there are some people who never look past their own nose

how relevant is that?...……….. Relevant enough for you to post in it 10 times

You are saying you have never seen a mirrorless camera in use????? by looking at your join date and post count it seems you don't get out to shoot much , Although your opinion is strong... it is very jaded indeed, and that's just where we differ, I travel the southern United States shooting motorsports events, I see lots of the same people over and over again and the mirrorless systems are definitely working their way into shooters arsenals, given it's mainly the video guys at this point, but the cameras are sprouting up which means they are selling. Or maybe the mirrorless systems are all stolen?????

I have been shooting motorsports since 2009 starting with an old K10D and all the way up to my last 2 K3's, guess how many Pentax cameras I have seen in my world? I would only need 1 hand to count them on.... It only proves that we live in 2 very different worlds.

Yup, you may be on to something since the Canon EOS R and the Nikon Z just sit at idle while Ricoh/Pentax just keep rolling out the new stuff...……….

Pentax is not "adapting" to market conditions, they are "watching" the market conditions..... as in watching it "fly right under their noses".

(A) We can't answer that question...…………..
(B) We are watching the market...…………….
(C) It's under heavy development...…………..

Ask your question and insert A B or C at the end and you will have the complete Ricoh interview, right here before the interview actually takes place.

Redcat 250mm f/4.9 - maybe

The reference was to the Ricoh motto "currently working on it" sounds like a Ricoh rep does it not? The standard answers are....

Currently working on it

and

Under heavy development

I can imagine this lens will be Pentax ready before the next Ricoh/Pentax announcement cause these people are producing a product and Ricoh/Pentax is "watching the market"

Sony's first ILC was launched in 2005 or 2006. Does it matter who has done it longer or who has done it better?

Hmmmmm, DPR & PF do have something in common.... I knew it :)

I'm looking forward to the 11-18 and the K3 replacement, I already have an old 35mm around here somewhere but haven't used it in years.

Nippon Camera Ricoh/Pentax 2019 Interview

It seems REH did raise a sensible daughter.

This is a true story.....honestly. I answered a (COUGH) craigslist (COUGH) add.... it was back in the K7 era and I didn't know any better :) He was looking for photographers to cover an event, something like a bikini party or who knows, I sent him a link to my portfolio like the add had requested, I had some concert, wedding and some family portraits in there, He emails me back stating the portfolio was fine and asked for my gear list, I told him the camera, lenses and flash I shoot with (all Pentax) I get an email back the following day stating my services will not be needed because they require "name" brand cameras ?????? and his editors do not understand the Pentax system???

The level of ignorance he displayed did not even deserve a response

Good point but...…… what do you call the "knowledgeable users" AKA professional guessers that throw the exact same banter in the 180 degree direction? is that not the definition of insanity as well? :)

I just got the Nikon Friday evening, I shot some Baseball yesterday and went to an mx practice track today so haven't tried it indoors but I have the 16-80 so it should be good. With the K3 I used the 16-50 and the 50-135 back and forth until they both died from multiple SDM failures, switched over the Sigma 17-50 and 70.200.

I had the Sig 17-50 on my K7 and the 70-200 on the K3 but the low light capabilities of the K7 were terrible. just went with the K3 and swapped lenses every now and then.

The 70-200 is great for the far side of the court but way to long for the near side. I can get up high in the stands and use it but pictures shot from the stands do not show the emotion or the action very well.

I shoot mainly Motocross/Baseball outdoors and Basketball/Volleyball indoors, I bought the D500 with the 16-80 and the 70-200 VRii lenses. I wanted to wait for the Pentax release but my K3 has a tad over 160k clicks on it so it was probably on it's last leg anyway and not a peep from the Pentax pipeline.

I never thought about switching brands but a few weeks ago I got to use another photographers D500 with the 70-200 VRii lens and was quite frankly blown away by it, Pentax has served me well though from the K10D all the way to my K3. I will keep my Pentax gear, it will be used if/when I use my strobes for indoor work, Nothing can produce colors like a Pentax camera with Pentax glass.

I feel the same way and have for a while now but I stuck around because I really like my Pentax equipment but it's more than a hobby to me, I spent a little over 5 grand last Friday and unfortunately it did not go to Ricoh/Pentax.
