I don't have a film body anymore. I was hoping the DA* 55/1.4 would suffice as a fast prime, given that I don't really shoot that wide at lower focal lengths.

Currently, I've been saving up for some lenses and am planning to buy the DA Limiteds. However, the FA Limiteds have been lurking in the back of my mind. The only question is that would the DA Limiteds and DA* 55/1.4 be sufficient for most things so that buying the DA Limiteds and FA Limiteds together is useless?

Thanks for all of the replies, guys! I didn't realize my signature was out of date, but I sold the Tokina a while ago and replaced it with a Tamron Di LD Macro 70-300mm. This latter lens I'm really not happy with at all. I also don't care too much for my Pentax F 50/1.7, as my DA Limited Macro 35mm is a much more versatile lens even though it is slower. So, I plan on selling both of those and putting the funds towards the Pentax 55-300mm.

Which other lenses would you guys recommend? The going rate for the DA 16-45mm on eBay is about $200. That's nearly unbeatable.

Hi, guys! It's been a while since I've posted on these forums. I'm planning on updating my standard kit and would like some advice. What I have currently is listed in my signature. I'm planning on moving to the following kit:
Pentax K10D
Pentax DA Limited 35mm F2.8 Macro
Pentax DA 16-45mm F4
Pentax DA 55-300mm F4-5.8 ED
What do you guys think? I already own the first two items, but would like more versatile zooms to cover the normal shooting range. Naturally, I would opt for more prime lenses, but I really can't because of the cost. In any case, any advice would be appreciated particularly from those who own or have owned the latter two lenses. How is the Pentax DA 16-45mm F4 as a general purpose lens? How sharp is the Pentax DA 55-300mm F4-5.8 ED? I'm normally skeptical of super-zooms, but it seems that this super-zoom gives great results at least from the pictures that I've seen.
Thanks!

Both of those are brilliant. I particularly like the cloud detail in both.

I was a GIMP user, but migrated all of my systems (which run Unix) to Adobe applications. I just can't use GIMP.

I am very much interested in this lens, but I don't have the cash for it. I think I should sell the Tokina in place of this.

The first is a photo that was taken in March at the NYIAS. I reprocessed it today. The second is an hdr shot with selenium toning taken from a series today. As always, all comments appreciated. Enjoy! |

How well does it sharpen up as you reduce the aperture?

I love that lens. The focus range can be difficult to work with in low light, but most of the time, it works great. AF is relatively fast, but I wasn't much of a sucker ofr that anyway.

I just fixed that. Apparently, you can't link from PBase, or at least I can't from that gallery. I just uploaded them here as attachments.

I visited the American Museum of Natural History in Manhattan yesterday. It was an enjoyable trip. Here are some of the shots from the trip. The entire gallery is located here.
As always, all comments are appreciated. All pictures were taken with the DA 35/2.8 Macro Limited.

I have a Pentax K10D and Tokina AT-X 80-200/2.8. That lens does not have an "A" aperture setting. How can I use it on my K10D? Currently, I have I can click the green button and here the shutter click, but I can't actually take any photos.

I should be getting the lens within a day or two. It's coming from Canada. I don't think it has the "A" setting, but I don't think I'd mind. I use green button metering and manual focusing with my two Pentax lenses. The best part about this lens is that the optics did not change between this MF version that I bought and the AT-X 828 (AF version) that has gotten great reviews. I suppose it'd perform as well as that one.
As for my wide-end dilemma, I think I'm going to wait a bit and get the DA 21/3.2 Limited and top it off with the DA 15mm Limited when it's released.

Well, I won the Tokina AT-X SD 80-200/2.8 for $160. According to pictures on PBase, it seems like a very classy lens. Now, I need to cover the lower end.
