Dear Spoko,
After sending my Kr back twice I thought that they had fixed it however shots in tungston lighting were still poor untill using it in Egypt.( different phase cycle to the UK)I had no problem with that at all but using the kit lense the camera has decided to just lock up and keep firing the shutter about 20 or 30 times (lense removed and contacts cleaned ) camera or lense not dropped or damaged so what next ?.The only answer is that the product is as bad as anything produced and anyone still defending it and then claiming all adverse comments require the Troll lable must start to see that three strikes is bad news. why are my other Pentax cameras still ok after 30 years plus and that was the reason I purchaced my Kr thinking the quality was to be the same. One of my cameras was used in Inner Mongolier 5c am 28c pm filming the last of the Qj steam locos for over two weeks without any problems in poor conditions so why doesnt this perform in good conditions. I do not wish to turn my back on the brand but I think the problems extend beyond camera shake or the jump from film to digital.

HI.
Well how often is very sunny/ bright conditions a problem when looking at screens. If you have a viewfinder no problem unless you point it at the sun (just joking). The thought of having to buy a bolt on view finder seems stupid this must be a design mistake.Perhaps only using a screen will do away with any ff problems like the Kr has.

Well the imfomation was posted as Pentax news . So were do we go from here. Has it gone or what? Uk humor does not travel the idea of dropping the name was said with tongue in cheek. One of the Pentax technicans at the uk repair center feels that it is one of the best bodies that they have produced in the price range being offered. As mentioned before after the last trip to the repair center it is a different camera.I hope that it does continue and perhaps firmware mods in the future will improve it further

Perhaps Rioch will discontinue the name Pentax next. The expected production run has lasted less than the sell by dates on some supermarket foods. If it aint broke dont fix it ! Well they didn't its gone on the scrap heap. However the ones that gave no problems have out performed many of the opposition models.Mine has been so improved after its last trip back to Pentax you would not think it was the same camera . Perhaps the bofins at Rioch havn't given it a fair trial.

Hi, I jumped into this one with two feet first. Try every thing else before assuming it is that.I spoke to pentax about another matter yesterday and enquired about any problems related to artificial lighting mainly red. They hinted in the future the kr will have a different sensor. All is not gloom and doom as I had thought.

Pentax Japan and KR FF workaround

First I will say sorry for being naughty. second i have a dislexia problem (so that guy wound me up )and is it so important if it's
spelt wrong if you can understand it.?however if I can handhold at 30 and the odd 15 without shake even with a camera without anti shake why acuse me of that.Putting up with a problem is not the solution to the problem, that lies with the maker.I purchased this camera because of the long reationship (over 30 years)with the brand. prior to that I had and still keep a Zenith B . as for not being able to use auto setting as has been said to various people by Pentax then if you took your car to a garage (shop) and they said take out the auto transmition and put in manual( stick shift )you would think they were off their trolley.I have had results that are faultless with my kr and I do not intend getting rid of it unless somethig of total disaster happens. To blame people all the time and not ever the product will not help this situation I was wrong with my atitude but did I cast the 1st stone?. This forum is of use because we all put little pieces into the jigsaw artificial red lighting looking back that did seem to worsen some shots as for straight out of the box not everybody will have full knowlege of cameras so my comment on snap style (not Lord Litchfield / David bailey standard) I think is resonable.I don' cry on shoulders and hope a line can now be drawn in the sand .

Hi
Perhaps in the UK the consumers rights are being breeched ( it don't do what it says on the tin ) at a wedding reception the disposable camera prints were better than the Kr.

Hi
Join the club lots of people seem to have this problem it can only be caused by one thing Faulty parts with poor quality controle. Note the tungston lighting problem can't be fixed.Dust seals suspect gives this modle a poor track record.

Hi folks
my Kr has beem back twice E-dial and poor ff. In bright light with the standard lense it's not bad. low light unless the subject is stationary above 800 iso then it is rubish. any of the canon compacts seem to knock spots off it. Using my old m zoom 1;45 8mm-200mm in reasonable light has been fun with some good results however my P30 and my Spotmatic 500 give far better results. I thought that the Kr on full auto just point and press mode would give very good snap style photos well it doesn't and I will not recomend this camera at all.:(
