A firmware update for Sony A7/A7r is available (links to Sony sites here: Sony A7-A7r, NEX-5T/R and NEX-6 firmware announced!!!! | sonyalpharumors)
Startup time is much shorter now (ca. 1 sec.) and I may be wrong but I think the AF is faster with Sony lenses (these using PDAF). I only have one ot them now (20mm f/2.8) which was already quick so can somebody check it with an FE lens (35mm f/2.8 or 55mm f/1.8). The difference is likely to be noticeable in dim light...

Don't get me wrong, Christine - the LA-EA4 is not a bad adapter. In fact, I think it's a very good adapter, it's just not as good as an SLT/DSLR camera for the A-mount lenses.
But if you want to try out some of the outstanding Zeiss, Sony or Minolta lenses - like the Sonnar 135mm f/1.8 for example, you might give it a shot :)

Hello again! :)
I caught up with the thread, saw a lot of excellent pictures (Christine, camerons, Malfunction - well done!) and I'm ready to add to it ;)
Well, I didn't have the LA-EA4 but I had the LA-EA2 adapter and I must agree with camerons. It's a nice thing if you already have some A-mount lenses and, for example, you use the A7/A7r as a second camera. But the AF speed is lower than in SLT cameras and you just get a feeling that the camera... lingers a bit...
My advice is not to buy the LA-EA4 adapter if you don't have any A-mount lenses, the SLT-A99 camera will be a better choice.
Anyway, back to the A7 - here is a set of pictures taken with my beloved Cosina Voigtlander Color-Heliar 75mm f/2.5 lens:
A 100% crop at f/2.5 (from RAW, no sharpening at all):

I thought there would be a bigger difference in the IQ in the corners with a close focus but... these images look good anyway.
And the third one - oh, I like it very much!

Yup, wideangle lens and close focus sometimes give very interesting results :)
I'm also curious if the IQ in the corners will improve with close focus - it should, even if just a little.

Did you try any close focus pictures? It may be interesting...

Thank you :)
There is quite lot of PP in the second one, but the first one received only a very delicate treatment (and I'm quite happy about it ;)).
Well, a nameplate with some information will probably do, but it wouldn't be so interesting ;) Thanks for the explanation!

Two portraits of my daughters - the first one taken with a Minolta 28-85/3.5-4.5 lens mounted via a LA-EA2 adapter, the second one taken with the Sigma 60mm f/2.8 - both in crop mode:

Well... I don't mean to increase your GAS again but sometimes it's hard to judge the low loght capabilities, dynamic range, pleasure of using the lenses in accordance to their focal length just by looking at the JPG pictures here ;)
Nice shot, Christine! Did you use any LR preset for this?

I can feel the atmosphere of this place, well done again!
My first fireworks' shots and the fireworks themselves weren't too impressive, so please don't be too harsh on me. Done with my A7 and a Minolta Rokkor 58mm f/1.4 lens (f/16, ISO100, 20 seconds exposure)

Thank you very much, Hin but I don't think your skills are lesser than mine.
For sensor cleaning I use a SensorKlear brush - it worked well with my NEX-es so it should do the same good job with the A7.
As for the color processing I used a slightly altered Steller Guru GreenGold preset in my LR (a bit more saturation and vibrance, more delicate split toning, some contrast and clarity). It works well with some pictures, especially these taken on a cloudy day.
