Wonderful capture. I've not yet had the pleasure of photographing a Northern Flicker, but it's surely on my short list.(Relatively common in Minnesota where I live)

For an f3.5 ultra wide-angle lens, you have managed to coax out the Bokeh on the fencepost image. Considering you shoot with an APS-C camera, this is even more impressive. (And the Bokeh doesn't look half bad) Am enjoying your photography showcasing the DOF characteristics of many Pentax and Third-Party lenses. Now if I can only convince my wife that an SMC-DA 55mm f1.4 should be adopted into the lens stable. (To my eye, excepting the new SMC-DFA 50mm f1.4, the DA 55mm is the Bokeh king)

One of the first images I captured with this wonderful lense. I initially didn't think much of this image, but then I went in for a pixel-peep. Holy Buckets, Batman.
Unexpectedly awesome resolving power. Replaces the venerable Sigma EX Macro 105mm f2.8 in the lens stable. Definitely a keeper, this one. CC_Fair_23_Yellow_Bloom_Stamen_1 by Nature Seeker808, on Flickr

Stopped off on the way to the wildlife refuge and found a great location for sunrise photos. Was excited to see the sky perfectly reflected in the lake's surface. Enjoy. Swede_Lake_Sunrise_Fall_2021 by Nature Seeker808, on Flickr ---------- Post added 12-05-21 at 12:54 PM ---------- First Trip to the Canadian border.......definitely worth the drive from the Twin Cities. The Sigma 10-20mm f3.5 plays nice with the KP. (Even if a bit chunky) GPSP_Fall_2021_High_Falls_Overlook_B by Nature Seeker808, on Flickr

Found this image tonight and re-edited for your viewing pleasure. Bokeh courtesy of the venerable SMC-Takumar 50mm f1.4 shot wide open on the KP. Definitely have to use this one more often. May not be as sharp WO as a modern nifty fifty, but it works for me. CPR_19_Owl_Clover_Bokeh_Sq_Crop by Nature Seeker808, on Flickr

Nicely done with the flower trio. That DA 40 looks to be capable of some very nice flower shots. ---------- Post added 12-13-20 at 09:53 AM ----------

The Fall Colors this year were more vibrant than I can remember for at least the last 5 years. Maybe mother nature was trying to make up
for this year being so difficult. Definitely going to try to camp here next year. JayCookeSP_Fall_2020_Color5b by Nature Seeker808, on Flickr

I like how the raindrops stand out on the strands of silk. Very sharp image.

I grabbed this image yesterday morning at the Minnesota River. After I brought it up in PaintShop Pro, it was screaming out for B&W, so I gave it the Silver Efex treatment, and then an additional pink toning in Topaz adjust, which helped to highlight the duck's eye. Shot with the KP and DA* 300mm f4.0 at f4.5. The eye could have been in sharper focus, (should have stopped down a bit) but I still like how this turned out. I spotted the Lily Pads growing just off the side of a fishing pier, and knew this image had potential. The challenge here was with dynamic range and getting enough detail in the trees across the lake during midday. I used a 3-stop GND & CP filter to help control the harsh light reflecting off the
lake surface, and then carefully post-processed in Raw Therapee/PaintShop Pro/Nik Color Efex to try to achieve a natural balance. Comments?

Decided I needed some fresh air, so I headed to the nearby Minnesota River to hunt for Trumpeter Swans, but only came across
a flock of ducks. Fortunately, the early morning light was favorable for a few nice captures of these mallards. Shot with the KP and
DA* 300mm f4.0. I used a Kenko 1.5x SHQ Tele-convertor on the shot with the mallard pair. Although it only support MF with this lens,
for relatively static subjects such as these ducks, it works rather well. (At least until I can spring for the DA* 1.4x TC)I really like how
light this combo is, and with the KP, I really don't feel like I need any additional resolution. Please click on the images to view the full size

7-image vertical pano shot at 17.5mm. (Should have zoomed in a bit) The colors this year were truly spectacular. Shot using tripod & CP filter.
Pano stitched using open-source Hugin s/w.
