It works in all modes on mine. Make sure you set your camera to AF-S (Auto Focus - Single). Light does not work on AF-C.

What's a roomy, durable backpack that won't break the bank?

Think Tank Street Walker.

Its what I use and I love it. Can be had for about 125$. Its extremely well constructed, roomy, lots of pockets for small items and a customizeable inside for lens, and the company as great customer service if you ever have an issue.

New lens for zoom (K-x)?

I would vote for the 55-300 DA-L on the grey market (its the kit lens parted out). You can find them for about 220$ online. The 55-300 DA-L is the kit version on the 55-300 DA. The optics are 100% identical. With the DA-L it has a plastic mount, no included hood, no quickshift focus and no focus distance markers. So it has the same feature set of your kit 18-55, just more zoom and better optics. I bought mine and love it. I like it because you can shoot at F4 up to about 135mm.

Nothing fancy, but I dream about a 50mm f1.2 and a nice 70-200 2.8 .

If you are looking to fill the void, I would look into the Tamron 17-50 f2.8. Its by far my favorite lens that I have. I picked mine up used for about 350$.

Repalcing the kit zoom lens?

I would get the Pentax DA 16-50, but only if I could afford it. I could not. So I got the Tamron 17-50 2.8 for about half the price. I love it. It rarely leaves my k-r body. I am more than impressed with the Tamron, its a HUGE upgrade from the kit lens. After getting a constant f2.8 zoom lens, thats all I want it future zooms. Looking to now sell my Pentax DA-L 55-300 in the coming months and getting the Tamron 70-200 2.8.

No Quick Shift.

Read several reviews, no quick shift focus. The look, feel and features of the lens is EXACTLY like the 35 2.4.

Yes to focus and Yes to long exposures.

In my K-R its in the Custom Menu, you change one of the variables. If you hit the remote you can have it focus before the shot or not focus. You focus mode has to be set to single (not continuous) for this option to work.

Yes, the remote can be used for long term exposure. When in bulb mode you can have one push open the shutter and another button push close the shutter. Not sure if you have to change a variable in the Custom Menu to do that.

Hopefully the 250$ is just a MSRP. I would pick it up for 180$ (same price as the 35mm 2.4)

I guess I need to stop looking at buying a 50mm right now and wait for the new 50 1.8. Looks very similar to the 35mm 2.4. Hopefully it will be priced the same/better. Any word on availability?

Lightroom is Great and somedays I wish I used it instead.

I currently use Aperture 3.0 (Mac only, made by Apple) and I use it because it links so nicely with my other Mac apps, iPhone & iPad. Aperture X/4 should be out sometime this year. If you are on a Mac Aperture 3.0 is worth looking it.

How about I get the tubes and you just get the 100mm Macro Lens?

haha

I feel like I would get better mileage out of the Raynox. It will fit in my bag so I will use it more. If I go with tubes they will more than likely sit on my desk and hardly get used. Just not sure if it will do Macro as nicely as done in that video.

I think your Bees would love to stare you down on the opposite end of a 100mm Macro.

Now thats the kind of macro I want to do! I was planning on using my 55-300 Pentax DA-L, Raynox 150 (have not bought yet) and a similar flash setup. Can I expect results as such or is that a pipe dream with the setup I am talking about?

Other option would be extension tubes (I don't have) and my 50 F2 reversed.

Go to an outdoor sporting goods store and pick up "scope paint". It's made for touching up rifle scopes.

Don't worry, that may already be taken care of.

I am still dreaming of picking up a few limiteds one day. Would love to have a 15/40/77 set. Someday I will get there. This is my first DSLR and I have only had it for about 4 months.
