Thanks for your quick answers. I just picked up my k5. The plan is to keep my k7 as a backup.
Any reason I should keep the k20 as a backup and sell off the k7? (besides ergonomics, i always liked the k10, k20 feel better)

Hello All.
I am currently using a K-7 and a K20 as my backup. Prices seem pretty good right now for a K5... Is it worth it? I figured I would sell my k20 with grip while it still has some value and use my k7 as a backup which I still love.
I am not a wedding shooter or anything crazy. I shoot mostly shoot kids, families and portraits. Is high ISO performance much better?

Any info on this is truly appreciated. Thanks so much in advance!

Lowepro Top Loader Pro 75 AW Camera Bag Question

Thanks so much. I wish there was a way to carry both, a flash and an extra lens. The 540 flash is large and I don't want to keep it on my belt.
(and look like batman)

But Hey, function over fashion.

Lowepro Top Loader Pro 75 AW Camera Bag Question

Hello All!
I had recently picked up a Lowepro Top Loader Pro 75 AW Camera Bag and I have to say it holds my K7 with a sigma 70-200 2.8 very nicely. As an after thought I decided I wanted to add a lens case to this system. I picked up a Lowepro Lens Case 4S. Which holds my Sigma 24-60 2.8 very nicely with room to keep the lens hood on and out.
As this makes for a nice kit the one the one thing it lacks is a spot my Pentax AF-540 FGZ flash.
I bought a Lowepro S&F Quick Flex Pouch 75 which is supposed to be compatible but I can only hold the lens case or the Pouch for my flash? Does this make any sense? Anyone using the toploader system?

Toploader 75 AW - Amazon.com: Lowepro Toploader Pro 75 AW: Electronics

Lens Case - Amazon.com: Lowepro Lens Case 4S (Black): Camera & Photo

Pouch for flash - Amazon.com: Lowepro S&F Quick Flex Pouch 75 AW: Camera & Photo

Any advice is truly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You think the 540 is that cheap?
Well I would say at that price it should have a metal foot.

My only other flashes are 2 Sunpak 383s and 2 Vivitar 285HVs, so I really dont have any experience with high end flashes.

K20 hits the dirt.... New K7.

Hello All!

I was recently shooting in outdoors in a park took a little fall. Unfortunately my k20 hit the dirt before I did. It hit lens first (cheap tamron 70-300). It went dead so I quickly took out my backup K10 body and put my Tamron lens on on it. When I got home I too the battery out of my K20 and tried to revive her. It came back to life and seemed to work fine. The next day I had a couple sessions in the same park and all went well ( I thought) Over 50% of my photos were slightly off focus. I dropped off my k20 in a local shop here in NYC (Calumet) and they suggested I send it out for a better look. I figured It was worth $20 to have Pentax look at it. They felt it was some sort of calibration issue between the sensor and where lens mount is. I got an estimate back for $246 and just gave approval to get the repair done.

Does this seem logical?

In the mean time to make myself feel better about the whole thing I bought a K7 and Sigma 70-200 2.8 lens.

K7 owners, Is it normal for your K7 to make a little noise when u turn it on?

Well I finally cracked and spend the $200 and got the Power Pack. Opened the box and have to see it felt really cheaply made. It basically felt like a chaep battery tray with no cover. The only holding it togeter was the not-leather case. Once I put batteries in it did feel a little better.
It definitely decreased the speed of recycle.

I also just read your not supposed to use rechargeable batteries in it. When I tested it, I used Eneloop batteries in the C sleeves.
Is that bad?

Thought it was kind of weird the way it disappeared from everywhere.
I found one vendor on Amazon that had it for $200.

I am currently using Power2000 2900mAh HiMH and the charger that came with them and I am really not sure if its a good setup. I believe its all Adorama's branded stuff and its about 2 years old. When I use my flash with TTL in my house or small room its not bad, but if I am in a church or larger room its brutally slow and kills batteries very fast. I know it would be slower but not this bad. Anyone have any recomendations for batteries?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Typo.. It was the same lens. Sigma DG 24-60 2.8

I was a little more pleased with the results with my Pentax 50 1.4.

Thanks PBO. You understood what I meant.

Same Lens
Same F-Stop
Same ISO
Same Shutter Speed
In my opinion should produce the same or better result with the new lens.

I agree but think 1/15 is too slow of a shutter speed to get me the better shot.

Both cameras set in Manual. Same Iso, Same shutter speed, Same F-stop, same lens (Sigma DG 24-60 2.8) should produce the same if not a better results in my opinion.

Yes. I agree the second is more natural and would be the desired shot but I dont think is should have to be dropped to 1/15 to get it.
