Actually, I don't think the whites were entirely overexposed however it does appear to be in the original shot. My wife told me that the day was mostly cloudy, it wasn't as sunny as it appears to be. If it was a sunny day, it would have made it impossible for me to pull out the details of the fur by underexposing the picture.

With the details out and about after underexposing the image, it makes me want to see the fox for myself since I wasn't able to take the trip to Denver that day due to work. That thing is gorgeous, and it's definitely going to be a good pet around the house... if the zoo allows me to sneak it out and take it home!

Thank you for the honorable mention. Interestingly enough, after I noticed that you said it was overexposed, I decided to see if I could pull in the details of the fur in LR through exposure compensation, I managed to pull this one off. I don't know if it would have made a slight difference in how you came to the finalists. These are all great, by the way.

These are from my wife's Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1, taken last month at Denver Zoo. I believe it was on Jan 18th. These two images are wonderful, and I had a difficult time choosing just one other picture in place of the excellent portrait shot of the fox.

I think I'll keep it as much foxy as possible for this thread. ;)

My mother might be interested in this if we don't sell her our year-old Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 P&S camera. She still has my old Spotmatic F with the 55mm f/1.8 lens on it. The prices are a good deal compared to the Canon Rebel XT offer that she's been eyeing on.

The shot of the Haleakala Crater makes me want to just jump into that image and walk down the slope of the "extinct" (officially active though) volcano and cross the stark terrain to the other side of the rim.

Beautiful!

A Dying Philadelphia Tradition?! (10 img)

Nice shots of the Mummers. Unfortunately, for some of the shots with a zoom effect, I didn't like them too much.

I think why the attendance is down is because of the crime going up in Philly, especially near downtown. It's been getting worse over time and people are pretty much afraid to go out and watch the parade in person. I'm quite sure there are many that were watching it on TV.

FYI, I'm a Philly native to the suburb of Southampton.

The same lens can be found here at Amazon for those of you in doubt.

Your 2007 Best Shot.

As I have started shooting with Pentax this month, I have a very limited set of pictures that are the best for this year. I do have some great shots from Florida earlier this year but that was with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1. *grumble at the OP wanting just Pentax photos, lol*

Unfortunately (or fortunately for me!) most of my excellent shots are of my son. He's such a wonderful CODA (children of deaf adults) and is so photogenic in any images that we produce of him. He's a gem.

The best two of the year, IMO (with Pentax, that is.) It was a hard choice for me. So limited pictures to choose from.

Hope you guys like it. ;)

Pentax K20D, K5D, or K1D (or both a K5D and a K1D)?

If there's a K5D, it would peform at or better than a Canon EOS 1D Mark III.

If there's a K1D, it would peform better than a Hasselbald 36 MP camera.

Hey, can't I dream? ;)

No, it's the sensor that's at issue here, not the resolution. The sensor itself is 10.3 MP, and 6 MP would have compression (JPG as there's no RAW 6 MB for K10D) and the noise will be the same, if not looking as if it has more because it's going to be shot in JPG mode.

Holy crap on #20.

I don't know if I want to USE that ATM. *shudders* I've never seen anything like that. You definitely produce excellent, yet surreal images that bring a chill down my spine (and it's not even cold in my apartment at all!).

Nice work!

Also, the funny thing is that he didn't say it properly. You don't say the "s" in Pentaxians at all. That is the true sign of a non-Pentaxian!

I can up you one better, Jodo - I am a Phillie fan. ;) It does help to be born in the city to be a fan of such a team that almost rarely ever make it to the playoffs. I was born the year they won the World Series.

Took me a while to get around posting the image as I don't have the proper software to do it on the computer, had to download ifranview to resize these two images as I haven't installed Photoshop on this backup PC yet.

Anyway, here's my ugly mugshot, the first one is with my wife and it was taken at the "World of Japan" section of EPCOT in February.

2nd one is fairly recent, taken in October. Both of them were taken with Panny TZ1.

Well, if the word "Nigeria" didn't flag as a scam in your book, what is? ;-) I've seen so many Nigerian scam letters that it's sort of funny to see them evolve into this manner, such as trying to fake up photography stuff like this.

Yeah, I am aware that it's mighty powerful for such a flash, and it's semi speedy at times. However, it's a battery hog but I don't have to tell you that!

I'll have to get this checked out. I went to several places to see if they had any multimeter/voltmeter available for me to test the unit out but they didn't have any. They were computer stores and to my knowledge they usually carry them to test the voltages on power supplies.

Go figure, these cheapo folks!

I don't want to buy a multimeter. I used to think I need one but seriously, how often would I need it in a year? The last time I needed one was 2 years ago but it was a moot point as my old PSU ended up getting fried anyway.

I need a good list of places that might have a multimeter, just give me a general idea of where I should look for in getting this tested for free. I'm cheap.
