Yes I think you are right, I will contact United Camera and ship my K50 out. 120 is a good deal I think. I appreciate the advice!

I like the rule of Pi better. But, I need to dig the calculator out of my pocket to compose a shot and end up dropping the camera every time.

That's a good sign. I guess I'll take the plunge and bid for it!
I'll take this thread to the film camera section. I guess it's more relevant there. I think this section is meant for flash techniques.

The 18-135 wr is much, much better than the 50-300 wr between 18 and 50mm, and the 50-300 wr is vastly superior to the 18-135 wr between 135 and 300mm.
Very different lenses. Apples and oranges.

finally my camera came back from repair.it took 5 weeks and they replaced the diaphragm control block and shutter block. that plus manual labour cost around 200 euro. thank god it was still under warranty.
i was hoping they would clean the sensor as well but they didnt. packing was pretty good though. havent tested it properly yet but took a couple of photos and it seems ok. fingers crossed!

I'm sad to confess that I've ended up painting over the Samsung logo on my GX-10. Things had reached the point where, if one more Canikon had marched up and sneered at me about what he assumed was a bridge camera, the twerp would have ended up waddling away with a tripod inserted where the Slik Corporation had never intended it to be used.
I've generally found that the best way to terminate an impromptu lecture from a Canikon is to pull out my beloved old Weston Master IV light meter, take a casual incident reading, and adjust the aperture ring on whichever of my Takumars I happen to be using.

I had my first chance since starting this thread to compare the RAW+ jpeg and DNG images with distortion correction turned off. I can confirm that this is the reason for my missing pixels. Apparently - at least with a lens that has little distortion - the camera 'solves' any possible distortion by simply whacking off a few pixels from each edge of the frame where it would be most obvious. I suppose this is a way to minimize the appearance of both pincushion and barrel distortion as well as minor vignetting.
Frankly, I can do just as well by applying a minor crop in PP - when necessary. I see little reason to turn this feature back on.
Thanks again to manacho2005 for the first correct response!

But can I still take cat photos/videos and apply filters to make it look like my cats are from the 1970's?

This Camera (the K-5) never ceases to amaze me, I always have it on me and it always has my newly acquired 18-135 lens on it and it is always at the ready. Last Friday we bought a new Jeep Wrangler and we were out driving it around and just enjoying the cruse through the country side today, when all of a sudden ,my wife noticed a hawk sitting on a fence post. I told her to turn around because I had my camera in the center console, when we came back around we noticed that it had taken off and was flying across the road but it landed on a fence. I had my camera on and aimed at the bird, and fully zoomed in, I would say I really nailed it this time, I only had a split second to make this shot because it took off right when it noticed us there- IMGP3093.jpg by MacawDude 007, on Flickr
It didn't take much P&P in light room but here is the original size- IMGP3093.jpg by MacawDude 007, on Flickr
Ya I had to crop it quite a bit but I am very impressed at the result.
