A great condition 77mm ltd. Possibly one of the best primes in this focal length by any lens maker ever. I actually like its performance better than the 85 1.2 L although the 85mm 1.4 AIS is probably a tie

Comes with a pouch and the metal Pentax cap. No box sorry the box fairy stole it in the last move. Some light brassing on the focal ring, glass is clean. I've been wasting this lens shooting film through it (though it does awesome in that regard) and its time it went to someone who can use it.

Made in Japan.

Price includes shipping and fees.

For Sale - Sold: K10D Kit 35mm LTD 360 fgz

I am in need to gear for upcoming shoots and so its time to move some of my extra gear. This is sale is for a K10 D kit. I do not want to break up the components.

What you get:
  • K10D with charger, spare battery, 2gb SD, strap, box, warranty card, manual

  • Pentax FA 35mm Limited Macro f2.8 with pouch, filter, box, warranty card

  • Pentax AF 360 FGZ with pouch, box, set of 3 diffusers

Full Disclosure
You are primarily paying for the 360 FGZ and the 35 mm LTD, the K10 is a freebie.
Why? The K10 has suffered from a broken prism and a broken front wheel. Both have been repaired and the camera is running perfectly. However the serial number on the bottom plate no longer matches the rest of the unit. Again the unit is fully repaired, but given its age and history I'm bundling it with other gear.

Second item to note is that the exterior of the 35mm LTD is rough, a fair bit of brassing on the rings and a few nicks and scratches as seen in the second photo. Glass is perfect however, and I've always kept a filter on it. This combo has been my go to backup for several seasons worth of weddings and has yet to fail me. The lens was purchased here a couple years ago, and is a Canadian import.

The AF 360 FGZ is perfect. Good condition, clean and working well. For a decent price you get a kit that will hold its own almost anywhere. I have the boxes and cards for 35 and K10, and the box the for 360 as well as the pouches for the 360 and 35.

I am asking $700, which include PP fees, shipping, packaging by my local UPS store to anywhere in the lower 48. Please PM me with questions.

Ever just have one of those shooting days where everything goes to crap?

Well for me I enjoy the work, and I've never been a heavy drinker  I go into each wedding not thinking about making every shot per se, as that would trip me up, but instead thinking about the elements of the shots. What is the light, where is it coming from, do I need flash or can I use ambient, where do I want my flash to come from and so on. Each time I enter a new space I re-evaluate and keep shooting.

It is a lot of mental preparation, but the key is for me is to remember that I've done this before and to have confidence in myself and my knowledge of my gear. Knowing that I can get great results with the K1000 OR the 5D takes some of the stress out of the situation.

Gotcha -

Yeah you nailed the lighting on your subject... probably a little hot overall, but still work well.

Nice shots :)

Not sure how you lit the girl with the camera, but if you had your flash straight forward (or slightly up), (I'm going by the giant shadow) you can help that by bouncing off the wall or ceiling away from your shot. You'll still get a shadow of course, but it will be going away from your lens so you won't see it as badly.

Keep up the good work!

50mm 2.8 macro lenses for Weddings?

Yes and no. They have no idea what bokeh is, but they sure as heck like a smooth oof background. Thus my 60mm macro and my 135 f2 photos often become favorites just because everything looks so creamy. A good sharp lens is a wedding must. I shoot FF canon, so the 135 is not too long, on a crop body it gets unwieldy. I would suggest you take a look at the FA77 or FA43. The 43 is bit of a workaround lens (you gotta get closer), but I use the 77 all the time at weddings. Granted I have a FF Pentax (the K1000 ) but it does a great job as a medium telephoto with good background control. Plus its fast for those challenging lighting conditions!

The best advice I can give you is practice!! If you've never used flash for portraits before get a flash gun. A Metz or similar will do you good. Once you get your gun start shooting like crazy! Practice straight on, bounce portrait and landscape.

If you have a little money look at Midwest Photo's starving student kits (mpex.com)

For a good tutorial and good information take a look at strobist.blogspot.com

Perfect pictures come not from your equipment, but from your understanding of the equipment. Knowing your location, knowing how the location and natural light and the flash will work together and knowing how your equipment works are all pieces of the puzzle. The only way to learn is by taking lots of photos.

Professional wedding photographers, what DSLR camera do you use?

The things I look for in my system are Auto Focus, ISO Performance and durability. Being able to lock focus in almost any light, and being able to shoot ambient in almost any light are big pluses in my book. Durability is good because over the course of a season you could easily add 20k clicks on a body, and its got to last. Unfortunately those features are often the features that cost the $$$$. I started shooting weddings on a pair of 40D's because it was what I could afford, mostly because I wanted a backup body, but in retrospect I should have just sunk the cash into a single 5 mk1 and used my *istDS2 as backup.

Current Bag -> 5D MkII, 7D (bloody fantastic camera, worth every penny), K10D, K1000 and the usual assortment of 2.8 glass
Past Bag -> 40Ds, D200, *istDS2, OM2n

Slightly off topic, but curious

How has that worked for you? Right now I offer engagements as an add-on with very few folks interested in it. Its a mixed bag with other folks in my area too. I can't justify raising my price to include an engagement shoot, but its definitely something to think about now that you've brought it up, and I'm curious how that might have worked out.

Wired-

I would recommend either a way to back up your cards (the laptop), or more smaller cards... nothing worse than busting 32gb worth of data! I bring 40gb+ worth of 4gb cards, but I'm paranoid about loosing a huge chunk of irreplaceable data, and feel its better to diversify and change more frequently. :/

I would also suggest you snag a second flash, either so both of you can run and gun or so if the first goes belly up you've got a spare. Plus batteries batteries batteries!! :) You might want to look into these:

http://amzn.com/B004YG7JXW

A combination reflector/diffuser is a very very important piece of kit, especially if you are shooting outside. Hey instant cloud! Echoing what others have said I use a monopod with an umbrella stand on the end for an instant light mod, plus the monopod can be used to steady the camera in a pinch as well.

I have couple of these and one lives in my car, the other in my kit: http://amzn.com/B002ZIMEMW

If you can swing it, bring a macro. Good for flowers, rings, favors, portraits, details etc.

Finally add a small roll of gaffers tape and a few pieces of stiff card stock to your bag. For next to nothing in weight you can create all sorts of on the spot light mods from snoots to reflectors. It may look tacky, but it will get the job done. Gaff is also handy for all sorts of other odds and ends.

Just my thoughts on this end!

Yeah the service manual gave me the insight I needed to get the prism shield out with out having to touch any of the bits. Thank you though. My repair focus is a bit more... forgiving... you could say, as I do handyperson stuff like light carpentry, plumbing and electrical, in addition to photography. I've got a steady enough hand to get in and out with out damaging anything, but I don't think I could do the mainboard on a K10 with out a bit of practice first. I was very glad the back had one screw (ground) and a push connector (I/O), but I was quite a bit worried about the top piece as that selector dial is hard wire attached to the body, as is the flash guts.
