My experience with Samsung in Australia has turned me off them too.
I sent my GX10 in as the anti-shake started misbehaving in July.
Service agent requests changeover in August.
After much stress and millions of phone calls I do not get a new unit till February!!!:mad::mad:
Samsung need a special support section for their DSLRs. The support unit had no idea about the product, and kept losing my records! (incompetence or intentional?)
Fortunately I got a GX20 as a replacement, but otherwise I can't recommend them to my friends anymore, despite them having a great product.

You forgot to add no pseudo movie mode, and no Dynamic Range option either. I prefer the menus on the Sammy too.

Thanks for the news, Brad. It turned out to be a more reasonable price than I thought too.
I had a link which I lost where someone manage to get a pentax grip to fit a GX10, looked a bit rough though.

Your zoo shots are some of the better ones I've seen from that lens, starting to sway me. Interesting you think the 18-250 is sharper under 200mm? I nearly bought that lens as it's so good, and being all in one is very attractive. I ended up getting the Sigma 17-70 very cheap, so am on the lookout for a tele. Your tamron and pentax comparison pix are striking at 300mm I noticed. One thing has anyone heard quality problems with the 55-300 yet? If not that would be a change!

I'm really surprised with the quality of those shots - seems like good value.

Prices are quite a bit lower than that by about $100-200 at least...

I am in a very similar situation ATM, having changed over from Minolta MF, and needing new lenses. Previously I had 28-105 and 70-210 both 2.8, but the cost of replacing these in AF was too much. I was looking at 17-70, Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 macro, or the Tamron SP AF17-50mm F/2.8 ( when it comes), and I wasn't decided at all in the longer zooms given my budget. I had planned to buy the 18-50 at Xmas via amazon but given so many reports of bad QC I put it off. .. However lately I have been leaning to the 18-250's as I've seen some lovely sharp pix taken with them, and despite not being a very fast lens it would be a very useful upgrade on the kit lens. Perhaps like you I will settle for this and some fast MF primes for my low light work in clubs etc.

I had an issue where the Image Stabilization kept deactivating, fortunately this f/w seems to have fixed it. Wasn't looking forward to sending it in under warranty...
