I am thinking f buying a Kx for my 6 yr old, she is really great with a camera, just needs practice. I can get a used Kx for next to nothibg but the AF/MF swith is locked in MF but still AF lenses fubction with it as if in AF mode. I would like to get it repaired. Has anyone had this problm, and was it expensive to fix? I don't want to get a great deal on a used camera only to spend a mint fixing it.

I tried the 200mm on a film camera, the view finder was clear. I purchased the 200MM because I needed the reach and becaude it can be used on FF if I ever choose to. I see no point in buying DA* lenses unless you want to cut down on weight. The 200mm will be my bigest lens. I can hirelarger lenses if I know I might need them.

I purchased the 200mm DA* 2.8 I was debating between it and the 50-135. I prefer fixed focal length lenses. I will use the 200mm for outdoor sports and a smaller lens for basketball and volleyball. I think the K-5 and the 200mm were around $1,975. I thought is was a good price.

I understand that, It just seems strange to offer a 135mm with a crop factor of 1.5 then offer a DA* lens which is 200mm. makes no sense. Not sure why the 200mm says DA* on it when it is actually a lens which can be used on film cameras and the FF when it eventually comes out. I will buy FA* lenses so that if I ever decide to get a FF Pentax, I will already have the artillery

Thanks lowell, I will do that. I wanted to shoot J-PEG as I can get more images on one card as opposed to shooting in RAW.

Outdoor sports, I have the 200mm DA* 2.8 and for indoors such as volleyball and basketball, I hope to use the 50mm 1.4 FA, something light to carry as I will be shooting several games in one day. I have unrestricted access on the floor and coaches benches. I do try and not get in the way and nobody has told me to move yet. Officials have warned me I may get his by a flying ball, but they are fine with be on the sidelines.

not sur why. I think it's because Pentax has a 50-135 DA* which means that it is equal to 202MM with the crop factor. Why have a zoom equal to 202MM and a telephoto at 200MM? The 200mm DA* 2.8 will be aprox equal to 300MM on an APS-C. I tried the 20MM on a film camera, and the viwfinder looked normal. If I ever get a FF DSLR, I will have the proper lenses.

I just purchased the k-5 and I have a question regarding sports photography indoors. Would it be better to shoot at 10MP instead of 16MP, and have less noise or shoot at 16MP and process in LR3? The reason, is cropping. I can crop more when shooting at 16MP than at 10MP, but I may have more noise at 16MP

Is the 50-135 from Pentax WR, and is it 2.8 from 50mm to 200mm? I am thinking of using this lens for basketball pictures. I will also need a lens for soccer, I am thinking of the 200mm 2.8

I tried to post an image I took, but I don't know what I am doing wrong. I will be using LR-3 for PP and I think I will go with the 50-200mm for basketball.

I tried the Tammy 70-200 and found it a bit too big in the gym maybe the 50-135 from Pentax might be better

I have an oppertunity to be the school sports photographer where my children attend school. I have the K-10 and need to upgrade to either the K-5 or a simialr camera from Nikon. I like the fact that Pentax can be used in the rain, and not all DSLR's from other brands can be. I will also need to purchase new lenses. I was thinking of using the 77mm 1.8 for basketball, as i am allowed to wander all over the guym. and the 200mm 2.8 for football (soccer). I don't like zoom lenses that much.I hired the K-5 and was not impressed with the LCD screen. A pro phoographer was impressed with my lighting. I had the ISO maxed out. I have Lightroom 3 and can correct for noise. Can anyone recommend any other lenses which might be better?

I have hired the K-5 and the tamaron 80-200mm 2.8 for indoor sports before I purchase them. The K-5 is set to semi-auto, one frame when I hit the shutter button. How do I change that so I get multiple frame when I hold down the button?

your shutter speed will change when you zoom in and you gro from F2.8 to 3.5. I am shooting basketball games and volleyball. I need the shutter to be as fast as possible at any focal length. I usually use fixed focal lengths but for sports, I think a zoom may be better. Why not have a lens that is a 2.8 at any focal length anyway?

I am looking for a 50-200mm F2.8 or better at 50mm as well as at 200mm. I have seen F4-5.6, if the F stop changes when the focal length changes, then the lens is no good to me. Is there a lens out there. I will be willing to have a lens with different focal lengths, but the F stop must stay constant. Is the 50-135 have an F 2.8 apature at 135mm as it does at 50mm?
