A Camera Bag Cart (Sorta)

I use this one too and it’s very rugged and has been the best one I’ve bought (4th rolator since initially told I needed one). It’s great for snow - esp here where we have snow for 6 months of the year.

So after much deep thought I bought yet another camera bag over the weekend. I use a wheelchair and I’m finding it increasingly harder to keep bags on my lap. This one can go round your waist and while it won’t win me any prizes for being good looking it will help keep my camera gear in the right places. It’s a Wandrd 9L Rogue. There’s a link to it in my Flickr Post:

Of the lenses you list, I have the DA*300 and I use it quite frequently with the 1.4 teleconverter. I’ve been very happy with the results.

Well I tried my very best not to miss a day but it’s 11pm here and all the shots I have today well just plain suck. There is less grain in bowl of grape nuts. They are bad. In my defence most of them were of my best friend’s new cat and he was very camera shy and thus he was far away and my cell phone just wasn’t up for the task. I’ll be back tomorrow.

Zippy, I hope you got your surgery and all went well.

Earlier in the month I begged for votes in a local photo contest. - I got third which initially would have netted me a thanks for entering but they decided to give the first three winners a prize. So my foxes will be printed and float-mounted. I’ve no idea what that exactly means but the person doing it seemed excited to be putting it together for me. So thanks to anyone who voted for me.

300mm vs 150-450 both with 1.4 tc

This has been an interesting and worthwhile discussion. I have a K-3 and a K-1 mkII and I also have the DA*300mm f4 ED and the 1.4 teleconverter. The 150-450 keeps jumping in and out of my shopping basket. I have some concerns over the weight. But then I had concerns about weight when I bought the 70-200mm and I handle that just fine. Maybe it will stay in the basket this time - just waiting on my taxes to see if I can spend the money.

This is completely out of character for me but I have a favour to ask. My local art supply store is having a photo contest and I entered one of my fox photos from last summer. If you are so inclined could you swing by and vote for number 94? You can find the page to vote and view some of the other photos here:

The weather will still be wintery here but we are at least on the right side of winter. February was a bit spotty and I don’t doubt that I will miss a few days but I shall jump in for another month.

Since January wasn’t a failure I will give February a go. My course ends in a couple of weeks and other than singing there isn’t much else to draw on my time. I’d like to be using my camera more and my cell phone a lot less - however if it’s the difference between getting a shot in and not then I won’t beat myself up over the cell phone use.

So I managed the first week and now I’m struggling to get back in the groove. It seems my depression is trying to derail things so I’m going to try and make a big effort to post something tomorrow. My medical appointments aren’t helping matters much and I have another tomorrow. It’s really ridiculous how one’s mind plays games with you and makes things way more difficult than they are. Anyway I find it easy to get going when I promise to do something so I promise to post something - it might be awful but I will post a photo. Thanks for your support it makes a big difference.

Went to a special event at the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada this evening that was organized by a local Photo Shop. There was myself (using a k-1) and my bestie using my K-r and we met another Pentaxian and were amazed we were so lucky to meet another in the wild. I joked that this would be only time my friend would see another in her travels.

Late lunch - egg buns (aka rolls), chicken breast, cheddar cheese (the real cheese not the stuff wrapped in plastic) and fresh young greens. They were very tasty:

Sorry I have nothing for today. Last night I only slept in 45 minute bursts with loads of pain and I’m just wiped. The weather has turned brutally cold - overnight lows dropping to -29C tonight and no doubt that played a role. I’ll be back tomorrow.

I have big plans for Thursday! We are going to visit our Aviation Museum. That’s if I don’t freeze solid by then.

Well done on the Explore Pepperberry Farm!

Thank you everyone. Winter is very difficult as I’m not a fan of the cold and our winters are well quite frankly brutal. Once the excitement of the holidays passes it becomes much harder to not implode and hide under the blankets in bed. I swear if it wasn’t for the cats I’d never get out of bed. When I was younger it was easier to get myself out of this funk but as I get older it gets harder. Living alone makes it easier to hide it from others but I assure you I do have people locally who check in on me frequently. It is funny how once I miss one day it becomes easier and easier to miss the next so that’s why I made the promise to post and I did it.

Tomorrow I’m back at my old University where I’d did my undergraduate degree. They do a wonderful series for mature adults of lectures that run for 6 weeks on a whole host of different subjects. One of my first professors is leading a course called Dramatic Moments in American History. It will be fun as there is no essays, no exams and no readings - just lectures. Something to feed my mind. Anyway I’ll have plenty of opportunities for a photo but I suspect I won’t be taking a camera (Except for my phone).

Thanks again everyone.

Stevi
