so what most of you guys are saying that the main purpose of the filters is just to protect the lens and doesn't really benefit the picture quality?
I'm new and I herd that using a polarizer filter is much better than using a UV filter. I hope some veteran could explain what a circular polarizing filter actually do.

I tried making a short film with my K-x and the sound was as bad as a iphone video camera's sound, I totally agree with gibby about the external mic this is actually one of the major reasons why I'd sell my K-x and upgrade to a K-5.

Most of the pictures here are fantastic, Timdentent's bubble picture is just extraordinary to me. I'm still learning as a new photography student and seeing all this just inspires me even more.

The k-x is just amazing and so is the K-R they are both really underrated to me and the price is a steal for a camera like the K-x that I have right now. I'm only a student and have been using my little white K-x where ever I go and it just does what you want it to do and its simple. I think if you already own a K-x you don't really need to upgrade to a K-r but if you are new to DSLR's and you want to get the most bang for the buck the K-x or the K-r will be everything a entry level student like me will need.
I'm glad pentax upgraded the K-x to K-r, I'm pretty sure the K-r still beats the Canon rebel Xs anyday of the week.
