This is a very quickly light balanced small .jpeg from the k-1, rebalanced on my phone. Using a DA 55-300 PLM with FF cropping. Was quite hazy out. |

I doubt this affects many, but firmware v2.00 and v2.10 are labeled as unable to "restore back to version 2.00 or earlier" after update, on the ricoh-imaging.co.jp firmware page. In case you move between firmware versions for any reason.

This reminds me of me in the morning, before coffee, when someone wants something that should be obvious. :D
Nice shot

Funny, I did the same thing. K20d now is rarely used except for messing around with old lenses. I like the k-1 original for taking night shots, space and stuff.

5 is my choice this month. (1 couldn't find a poll, but am on mobile right now, so?)
It was very close, For me, the colors and framing of 1 (I wish the top curve had a bit more space above it), 4 for the use of curves and straight lines, 5 for the same reason, cant say why exactly between the two. and 6 really caught my eye, I like the visual doorway to nowhere vibe with it too. These are all superb, just my thoughts after a quick look thorough. Well done, really nice shots!

I would think a method to do what we current day do with laser scanning, but with color, accuracy and other data. Basically do a 3d scan of the "scene" you want. Probably even 360 degree at some point too. By then, maybe recording smells and sounds also? If power was not an issue, we could have all kinds of magnetically focused or shaped "lenses". I would bet whatever is going to make company A, B and C the most money is what will be developed. So that could be innovative and really cool, or just the most filtery of filters that ever filtered for those super likes on the instabook. sadly.. maybe.

I actually accidentally bought the older version of this lens (well, and slightly faster) but it seems the "latest" (read: this lens) is better. I'll try out calibration if it makes a decent lens better for sure. I hope it will make hiking more pleasurable. I love nice glass, but it gets heavy after awhile. I'm pairing with a K-1 (not ii), but I don't think that will change much.

Since I've never done a lens calibration before, which method would you recommend, if any have your preference?

I just ordered this lens (missed the black friday sale, but it's still on sale now, just not as much). I never calibrate my lenses, so I will have to try it out. I love the 70-200, so if it gets even better, that would be crazy!

They were all pretty docile. Wasn't stung once. Close enough to name them :D
The lens was an e-bay purchase, complete with a 7.1x double with autofocus added. I like it. Its not amazing quality (the doubler) but fun. The macro is my first close macro i've liked. I have an old 80-200mm that does macro, but shots never really came out well.

I think pentaprism's will go away mostly entirely once we have optical augments that can link to them. Contacts, implants, glasses etc, where using the viewfinder will be slower / a hinderance. It'll still be used, but having even a sensor box and just a lense will make a lot of sense. Until then, I think the next thing will be attachable processing. Something that phones have, where you can set a profile you like, and then process, offload / send to. I think both on-body and live feed to x,y,z processing. Already, I feel lesser phone sensors and lens's are offset by ever better software processing. Having that available for still and video images live or near live will be up next. I don't think high quality glass will be replaced, but further improved upon.

I was just giving you a hard time. As long as its a shot by a Pentax camera, or of a Pentax camera, and the K20D isn't trying to take over the thread, I'll allow it! (or well, I don't think we have to be all that strict.)
I mean, honestly, we can all modify the EXIF data anyway at the end of the day :)
BUT.. I happened to have a K20D sitting on a shelf collecting dust, (very dusty, you can see in the photo), so it was just ASKING to be in this thread. I felt a little bad, so took it out yesterday and took some shots with it. I would say I wont post them here because its not a K-1, but really, its because my place is a mess and you don't want to see that. :D

Have you tried setting your K-1 to crop mode and noticed if you get a similar effect to the k-3? I am interested in if that is an acceptable setup. Mostly due to still having many crop only lenses.
