Yes, this was my first thought. I checked it, but couldn't see any light coming through. I think it's a very small leak, hence I'm not able to see it.
Thank you all for your suggestions.

Hi!
Just developed a roll of Kodak 200, I shot with Pentax Z-20. Some weird stuff is happening there.
I'm thinking of camera light leak or development. Since it is very consistent on the same spot of each frame, I really doubt it's processing. If the roll would be somehow faulty rolled onto a reel, then it's no chance you get such a consistency in spacing. Besides this looks like a light leak not a lack of developer on this spots. Am I wrong? There are a couple of frames, which are OK, though.
I inspected the camera in the dark with a flashlight, but could not see anything coming through.
But then again: if you check the border of each frame, there is a sharp end of the frame visible. Meaning, that the camera correctly exposed the frame. Is it possible, that light leak is somewhere at the taking spool? |

Hi, will try to throw my opinion....
First of all, level your tripod/head. When you rotate the camera, it should be leveled, else you get something light that. The crop will be very tight here to create the final image.
Second: You should put the camera in manual and have fixed exposure throughout all shots. This means very precise metering. I don't know about K-1's dynamic range, but am pretty sure, if you expose for highlights, you should be able to recover shadows easelly.
Otherwise: congrats for the effort. I know is hard to work in the dark, especially when the light is changing rapidly and you have to handle a lot of dynamic range.

So, mystery solved....
It's kind of embarrassing actually. I didn't understand, why two images I posted here are totally different. One has underexposed part and the other overexposed. I went into the dark room again, took my flashlight and inspected the camera from inside out. Again! Nothing. No light leaks.
So, why is there light leak visible on film and it repeats itself quite precise? And why it is not consistent? There are parts of the film, which are OK. Mostly in the middle of the role. But not allways. See my point? Where did the light come from?.....damn... Then it ringed a bell...Freaking bulk film loader!!! I checked it and sure thing... The lever for rolling the film into canister has to be full in the whole time. It did escaped me a couple of times, I remeber that.
Rolled myself another short roll and everything is just fine.
So, as most of the times: user error.
Thanks for all the help again!

Actually this is the photo from the first roll of film, prior to seals replacement. I developed another roll after and it's still there..
Yes, I did try to inspect the body in the darkness, but did not discovered anything....

This lens performs well on all other cameras.
Thanks for all opinions. The scan bellow shows a very obvious light leak, even after replaced seals.
Besides, there are some pretty nasty horizontal scratches on the negatives. Not very well seen on a busy scene like this, but are there.
So, this 50$ camera is not worth saving. I'm done with it.

Seems to me, that the shutter is working just fine... Recorded a slow-mo at 240 fps (the best I can do right now). Please see the attachment.
Also the mirror seems to lift up in time.

Hi!
Just got me Z-20 from Ebay and shot a test roll of HP5. Run straight for development and.... strange thing... On the trailing edge of almost every frame, there is an underexposure of a couple mm. The funny thing is, that on the negative it shows like a light leak, because the edge of the negative (where the holes for film advance are) is slightly black, so exposed, where it should not be. It should be transparent.
I noticed, that light seals are gone, so I replaced them, but not got the time to test it again. After scanning, I realized, that it could not be light leak, as the frames are underexposed on the edge, not overexposed. Except, if the exposure on the edge is correct, but the rest of the frame is overexposed...
Here is one frame from the test role.
Is there anybody with some experiences on this?

I was wondering, how many film shooters are out there?
I fell in love with film .... again. There is something about the process of shooting, developing and scanning.
All Photos taken with Pentax MZ-7 and SMC FA 28-80 F/3.5-5.6. Shoot on Ilford HP5 and developed with Rodinal.
I just love the contrast, this film renders in harsh light. |

Edit: Yes, I did forget, how to upload photos... :-)
Hi!
I think it's been 7 years now, since my last post here on this forum.... yes, I've been shooting family photos, but not really took time for myself..
And now it's the time to get back in "business" :-) Today I grabbed my SMC-M lenses, which I was about to sell.... I changed my mind. :-)
1. SMC-M 135/3.5:
2 .SMC-M 50/1.7:
3. SMC-M 200/4:
And yes, I do own some F/FA/DA lenses... :D
4. FA28/2.8:
