IMO, gear can be bought. Composition must be learned and developed.

Filters I think I know NOW why they matter...

I had an occasion when the UV filter actually damaged the front element.

Lens on camera in bag, front element pointing to the bottom. The bag fell, hit the lens cap, pushing it into the filter, smashing it and scratching up the front element. I'm reasonably certain than there would have been no damage to the lens if I didn't have the UV filter on.

I know it's a rare occurrence but I'm in the no filter camp now.

Camera Strap You'll Use For K-1?

I'm not going FF, but I thought I would through in my 2 cents.
I don't have a one solution fits all. Over the years, I gathered:
- 2 camera Spyder holster weddings and events, I haven't found a faster solution when I need to switch between bodies.
- Peak design slide for one camera/lens outings
- peak design capture, worked really well on my belt on my most recent vacation, along with
- ONA bag to carry the limiteds & body. I keep a PD capture on the bag strap as well.
- or any combination of the above.

Be careful, getting your first limited lens can become very expensive. :) The DA21 was my first, now I have all the DA primes.....

I can relate, still haven't learned this either. Of course, I never seem to find the shots when the camera is with me.

Don't hesitate to post more deals that you come across in Canada, i don't see them very often.

II or IIs -- Anti-aliasing question

When I went from K7 to K5ii, the differences was night and day. So, for me, the incremental difference wasn't really worth the cost. I've since bought a second K5ii on one of the great recent sales, so now for the first time I have 2 identical bodies (great for shooting weddings). I don't need to look at a new camera body for quite a while.... Lenses, are a different matter entirely. :)

What's with the "sir" in forum threads?

I wasn't raised in the southern US, but I was taught to respect my elders, by the use of sir/madam.

'Sir' still slips out regularly in everyday greetings, definitely not intended as tongue-in-cheek. No-one's ever commented on it, even though I'm the oldest among most of people I work with.

In lr I setup a smart publish collection to export any 3+ star pics to a shared hard drive. That way family can browse through pictures without having to worry about Dng files or messing up my lr databases.

Thanks for that. I could never understand the difference between the two, they seemed to be identical functions to me.
