Composition or camera gear?

IMO, gear can be bought. Composition must be learned and developed.

Thank you for the information acoufap, it is quite helpful. I'm thinking that I'll try iMovie as a start, as I do like to have the options of intros, etc.
I probably got spoiled with the full featured functionality I had with Proshow Producer. I may also take a look at the App Store and fotomajico.

I've had a lot of success with Proshow Gold and then moving on to Producer, I do find Producer is overkill for my skill level - I upgraded on a special, for one or 2 features.
I could get a show together pretty quickly, and then it's simply a matter of tweaks to get it 'just right'. Sometimes I took more time looking for the music than putting the slide show together.

I'm just now flipping from Windows to Mac, so I'll be looking for a new tool.

Travelling with primes

I’ve gone on several trips with my DA primes, and been very happy with the light setup, and I always seem to have better shots. Sometime throw in the 18-135 when I think weathersealing will be needed.

I also have the Op-tech dual lens caps. Absolutely love it.

If you are one to take some 49mm filters, a filter stack cap kit is a great way to save space.

the limiteds do they live up to the reputation and why

I had the complete set of DA limiteds (15,21,35,40,70), my 21 and 40 took a beating in a couple of mishaps. Replaced the 21 right away, and I'm missing the 40 much more than I thought i would. .

Filters I think I know NOW why they matter...

I had an occasion when the UV filter actually damaged the front element.

Lens on camera in bag, front element pointing to the bottom. The bag fell, hit the lens cap, pushing it into the filter, smashing it and scratching up the front element. I'm reasonably certain than there would have been no damage to the lens if I didn't have the UV filter on.

I know it's a rare occurrence but I'm in the no filter camp now.

Carrying your camera with you everywhere, everyday. Solutions?

Not sure if this is the type of info you are looking for. I use a ONA Bowery bag (https://www.onabags.com/store/messenger-bags/the-bowery.html?color=field-tan) to carry my camera and limited primes. I found it on sale at a local camera store a couple of years ago, and I love it. I've nicknamed it my 'purse' as shortly after I got it my daughter dropped in, saw it, and asked who got the new purse :)

I can squeeze a K3 with 21 mounted, a DFA100, DA40, DA15, and DA70 in it using the optech dual lens mount caps. The 100 hood stays at home and I use the 49-26? step down ring as a hood instead.

Can't remember the sizes off the top of my head but I have pinch caps which fit the 40 and 70 hoods just fine.

I agree. For me, the 21 is the only lens that I use the push on lens cap for - because of the hood design. For all others I use a pinch cap.

Congrats on the set.

Lightroom: HD 15ltd is unknown in Lightroom

Thanks for the input. I only see the problem on my one HD lens, the smc lenses are recognized without a problem. I have been manually selecting the smc profile for my Hd lens and it works fine, but I cannot perform a search for pictures taken with this lens. I suppose I could narrow the results by selecting a FL of 15mm..

I don't see the HD Limited lenses in the Adobe, supported list, so it sounds like we are out of luck.

Lightroom: HD 15ltd is unknown in Lightroom

I'm hoping there is a simple solution to this, even though I haven't been able to find any. My HD 15mm limited is not recognized in LR (CC), meta data comes up as Unknown lens, but all my SMC ltd lenses are recognized without a problem.

Do I need to load a lens profile, or something have LR recognize the HD version of the limited lens?
Do all HD limited lenses have this problem?

thanks

Camera Strap You'll Use For K-1?

I'm not going FF, but I thought I would through in my 2 cents.
I don't have a one solution fits all. Over the years, I gathered:
- 2 camera Spyder holster weddings and events, I haven't found a faster solution when I need to switch between bodies.
- Peak design slide for one camera/lens outings
- peak design capture, worked really well on my belt on my most recent vacation, along with
- ONA bag to carry the limiteds & body. I keep a PD capture on the bag strap as well.
- or any combination of the above.

Be careful, getting your first limited lens can become very expensive. :) The DA21 was my first, now I have all the DA primes.....

Poll: DSLR straps

Most of the time I don't have any strap on the camera(s). It's either in my hand, in the small ONA bag, or in a peak design clip. When shooting an event (wedding) they are on my spyder belt system.
