I'm lately started a Minolta glass craze. Shooting manual is great practice of skills that hadn't much use in multiple years.

I bought a 58mm rokkor f1.4.
And a 50mm rokkor f1.4
Through Kehs.

And mercari offered a large lens bundle for reasonable pricing ... from it, I'm slowly working through testing a 135mm f2.8
2 - 300mm. F4
And a 500mm f8
Feels like Christmas.

I'm ignoring the larger zoom collection for now. I may play some day. I do prefer primes

How many mega pixels does one need?

I love my k1ii, but I can't email the full size image on Gmail. Not even the jpg file.

36 mp seems plenty. Maybe even too many for the non pro person...

I went to the river for a water festival, there were free canoe rides as part of the event. - Part of the festival was a native American prayer for our water and natural world. (sadly, the river is very polluted).

I used to love my DA 21 f3.2. I gifted it and my old k10d to a friend who is learning photography.

I may be adding the dfa 21 as a replacement to my bag as a Xmas gift this year. I love the pics I'm seeing here. Thank you for posting the review.

K3, K3ii, or K3iii for Second Body

If you have DA lenses, stick to the crop sensor. If you have the dfa or FA lenses, prices are pretty even between the k3iii and k1markii.

I love the full frame but understand that a drawer of great DA glass won't work well with it.

If you want your kit to be interchangeable, stick to the same sensor size.

If money isn't the worry and lenses are in grand abundance... the k1ii would be a great investment into her career.

A day off - I visited the state botanical gardens with my friend - and we enjoyed an afternoon of photography. I had just received a new lens - the 18-55 Fuji zoom. and it behaved quite nicely.

I had both cameras on me, the fuji (with zoom), and my Pentax K1ii with the 100mm macro. - and between both, they made for a lovely pairing.

OMG! The pancake 27 WR - it's on my to buy list. :) so cute!! perfect little walk around lens.

Does anyone have it? I'd love to see some pictures from it. :D[COLOR="Silver"]

No need to post them here unless you want to. If folks have a flickr folder to share with the 27 mm images - would love a link. :)

I am a fan of Voigtlander lenses. I had a more difficult challenge to focus with the 21 mm. - The 75 mm is a fun shooting lens with the xpro3.

I'm debating whether I should order another Automatic style lens for my Fuji body. - My current system is one 14 mm fuji lens - and adapters to play with voigtlanders, 21, 50 and 75 mms.

I took out the `15-30 pentax zoom for the first time today. It's heavier than I would like, but what a fun shooting lens!

I had opportunity to take out the voigtlander 21 mm lens yesterday. the weather was grim, cloudy, and ready to drip - but it hadnt started. As I left work for the garage - I decided to take out the camera and test the glass. I found it a smooth lens - but I was having a challenge telling whether it was in focus or not. I need to learn a different method of focusing - as my eyes just don't work so well on the view-finder. Especially after a day of focusing on monitors - focusing seemed more guessing than being able to tell from what I was seeing on the camera itself. Finally, I was doing some master-mind guessing on what distances I was from the object and setting the lens that way. (HAHAH...) I admit it - I need to get my eyes checked for glasses.

Looking at the pics, the next day - I'm grateful that more were in focus, than not. only 3 out of the dozen were not worth moving off the card.

There's never enough time to use all the lenses when you have a past of lens shopping addiction.

I do like my 43 limited though. :)

Yeah, sure - very helpful - lol! I think first I must use all the adaptors I bought, and decide which old glass I'd want to keep in a carry bag. Are any of them mirroring these Ttartisan images.

Give me a few weeks, and then I'll decide whether it's time to shop again. ;)

That is a dilemma! I recently upgraded after 10 years of not touching my old pentax. I bought the full frame k1 ii, and a few new lenses. I love the camera, but it sure is heavy. It's no easy feat to take long walks with it, especially with the 15-30 zoom, I want to love_ but boy o boy! So heavy. So I added a tripod... you can see how easily the weight even further adds up.

In the end, I want a walkable solution for gear. I do have a bit of addiction... I bought a rangefinder style fuji and a few adapters to use some of my old glass (film days). I like that it's light. And those small lenses are small. Even knowing they can only be shot manual, I'm still getting outdoors

So your question should be, what do you want to shoot? Do you care about the weight if you tequila a long lens? Or are you more interested in the exploration and making something lighter, and lower tech work for you?

Go with the WR. So many outside images take on a whole new wow factor with water droplets added...

No need to limit yourself when you trust that your gear is sealed and weather proof.

I think I may buy one of these Ttartisan lenses after seeing some of the photos posted here. My LBA is itching to begin again

You aren't making it easy to decide. I do shoot both fuji and pentax. And I expect more Raw editing in my future.

Does this mean to avoid the one time purchase as there are more software updates required?

I'm inspiring my best friend to take up photography, with my weekend visits carrying gear. :) I brought both cameras, and a few lenses and played. When we got back inside from exploring her back yard - she told her husband to find their old camera (nikon) - and then, a bit later in the conversation, she began asking about an upgrade... I suggested two ideas to him, Pentax K3iii and fuji. (both with idea that I could share some of my glass with her while she figures out what she enjoys shooting)

DSCF0837 | Rosey D | Flickr

This is one of my practice shots using an old voigtlander lens that's been long unused with my Leica film days kit. It was a challenge to work out the menus to use this lens fully manually. the majority of the photos taken yesterday with it, are a bit softer than I like. It may be one of the challenges of needing glasses and not committing to using them (except for readers).

DSCF0838 | Rosey D | Flickr

and because I'm really enjoying the idea that I'm inspiring a friend to enjoy this hobby.

IMGP0863 | Rosey D | Flickr
(taken with my Pentax) I let her try both set to auto. - I think her hubby may label me a bad friend. LOL.

my fuji xpro3 and 14mm f2.8 lens arrived finally from Keh yesterday. It looks new but were advertised as EX. I'm happy to have another camera to learn. I got outside very briefly today to try out the system.
I took a half a dozen shots, spread between mono chrome and velvia. and downloaded them to my computer to look more closely. I don't know if I like the tones on the velvia, But, the capture in Raw is quite nice.

Saying all this, I need to get a different photo processing software. I seem to be collecting a lot of files since I upgraded my pentax in March - and my photoshop program is on a laptop, 3 versions ago. I bought corel in March to see if it had any benefits to it - and maybe it's just me - but it seems to be a very challenging (not user friendly) program - I have not figured out how to open up RAW in it, yet.

Anyone have any advice on whether the Capture One/light room conversation? I have read that it's extremely good with Fuji, thoughts for working on Pentax DNG files?

OK, I know I'm going to have to relearn manual settings, it's been a long while since I've shot anything completely manual. This is going to be quite the learning process.

I remember my k1000 days (80s and 90s) where I mostly used iso 100 film for outdoor shots. For these two, what was your draw to choose iso 400?
:) they're very well done, I especially like the tomatoes shot. Love tomatoes.
What was the decision factor for doing oofocus on the forefront of the squash picture instead of opening the depth of field and playing with the aperture?
