I recently got a sigma 10-20... love it! However, when I installed a screw mount UV filter on it, I noticed that when looking across the glass at an oblique angle in bright light, I could see what appeared to be a moire or pressure pattern of distortion about 5-7 mm wide in the center of the filter.This would indicate to me that the filter was touching the front lens element. I spoke to B&H, and they had me send the lens back for exchange. I just received the new lens, and saw the same effect, although smaller, about 3 mm wide. My plan at this point is to take the glass out of a cheap 77 filter, and use the ring as a spacer for the UV filter. I'm only going to use it when conditions require it, as in blowing sand or the like, I'm just wondering if anyone else has seen this on their copy of this or any other lens. I imagine that continued contact between the two surfaces would not be a good thing...

Ok, here's my first try at posting an image...
EXIF- K10D, ISO 100, F5.6@1/180, 300 mm with a Sigma 70-300 APO macro. I wish now that I'd stopped it down a bit, but he was moving, and I need all the speed I could get. Let me know what you think...

Hello, everyone;
I'm thinking about getting a Sigma 10-20 for my K10, and I'm concerned about vignetting with the 77 mm UV and/or circ. polarizer... I've never owned anything this wide, are there any problems with using these filters? I appreciate any advice anyone might have...

Hello, everyone;
I'm brand new to digital, I just got a K10D in order to use all my existing lenses. What an incredible machine! I've had a bit of experience fooling around with Elements 2.0 using film images put on disc as JPEGs by the processor. Now I'm interested in getting the most out of my new equipment. Is Elements 6 the best place for me to start? Will it allow capture and editing of my RAW images? If there's a better program for me to start with that's in the same price range, please let me know. I'm really looking forward to learning to edit my own stuff, I just need pointed in the right direction to start with. I really appreciate any input!!
