Hi, Adam,

Thanks......I see the number 34....and all I see is a red x....no photo. When I right click on it, I get "show picture" but nothing happens. Does anyone else see the photo, or just the red x??? Ah, well.

Thanks,
Jody

Good Morning, Adam,

I posted a message to you this morning, but put it in the wrong place. Sorry.
I posted a photo in March's photo contest, did it correctly and viewed it afterward. It was of a 93 yr. old woman...close up shot of her. I got on line this morning to vote, (checked as I didn't get a message that voting was taking place)_ and my photo is not there! what happened??? Is it possible that changing my email address had something to do with it? I got the email from Pentax forum recognizing the change and did the appropriate action to get it accepted. Would you be able to find out what happened.....

Thank you.

I just keep celebrating the anniversary of my 35th birthday.....celebrated the 24th anniversary in Dec. of 2007. Love it......keep getting wiser with every one. Still not technologically minded, but I'm workin' on it. (59)
Started with a Pentax ZX-7 35mm in 2000 after wanting to take great pictures all my life.....treated myself to a K100D in Sept of 2006. Love it. Just purchased an AF-540FGZ to go with it, and am pouring over the manual as I type.....(I did mention that I was technologically challenged?) lol I am sure I will be posting questions as I go along.

Hi, Mike,

Just read your advice, and I thank you. I appreciate it....from all of you. I am looking forward to the challenge.....and will be sure to try every thing. I always use protective filters on my lenses...and will be sure to have fun, and share the pics when I am done.

p.s. will be sure to stay behind the barriers... (grin) thanks again.

A general Question...

Hi, all,

Would like to know if any of you use protective filters on your lenses. I have them on mine, and was recently advised to take them off as they dont' let the camera take a good picture. Personally, I don't think they have made difference, and I was very glad to have them on when I was at the top of Pike's Peak the first week of November...Wind was horrific, and got blasted by decomposed granite. Ouch!!

Hi, all.....

Thank you very much for your suggestions. I always shoot in JPEG, so that's not an issue. I have absolutely no idea what speed my cards are rated at......I use Promaster SD 512 MB.....Will definitely look into the other ones you suggested. Does the package have the speed on them?....my cards don't. Hmmmmm, interesting.
I will definitely take the camera out and practice.....and go to the track as soon as it opens and practice there as well.
According to the person who wants the pictures taken, I will be in the 'pits'. I have been taking pictures of birds in flight....and they are mostly always out of focus.....good thing I am not using my film camera. Anyway, read the manual for the millionth time, and have changed the setting for auto focus from AF-S to AF-C.....for continuous focus when I am shooting in continuous mode. I am hoping that helps some....and I know how to pan......
I have a teleconverter for the Pentax Z AF (my film camera)......not sure if it will work with the digital...it is a 1.7X. And I know I would have to use a tripod with it.
Thank all of your for your help......any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Everyone,

I have been asked to take pictures of a Dragster in action this spring and summer. I own a K100D and here is a list of the lenses......Pentax DA 18-55mm (my kit lens); Pentax FA f/1.4 50mm; Promaster AF100mm f/3.5 Macro; Promaster Digital AF 18-200 f/3.5-6.3 XR EDO LD (IF) Macro; Promaster AF 28-105mm f/4-5.6 (IF) ; Promaster AF 100-300 f/5-6.3 Macro.

I notice when I am shooting in continuous mode, that I can get off 4 frames, and the camera stops, If I keep the shutter release button down, it shoots real slow.....but if I take it off, give it a few seconds, I can get off 4 more in succession. Is it the camera, or the lens? Also, has anyone here taken shots of a dragster, and what advice would you give as far as lens to use, mode, etc.???? I would really appreciate your help. I have a friend who calls my lenses "crapmasters" but $$$ and inexperience was a hindrance when I first started out. I am still hindered by $$$ but can overcome it. Would you suggest a faster lens and if so, which one??....(I was asking about the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 in an earlier post.....and yes I would love one....but....alas, no pentax mount) lol She also tells me my camera is SLOW, as hers takes more pictures per frame than mine and thinks I should switch to C----n......(NOT!):D

Anyway, thanks in advance.

Hi, all.......

Question......if the Sigma70-200mm f/2.8 if not available for a Kmount Pentax.....(I have a K100D).....Is there an adapter one would be able to purchase to mount the lens on their Pentax? If so, what do you lose.....ie. autofocus, zoom???? and if not, what lens would you recommend that would be comparable? I need a good, fast lens for flight shots, moving wildlife, dragonflies.....

Your expert advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Meyjo

I went to the camera shop that has this lens, and alas....it is the Macro. A friend of mine has a catalog from B&H, so I was lookiing through it to see if they had listed the non-macro version. They didn't....BUT have the 70-200 F2.8 EX DG Macro HSM listed WITH a Pentax Mount.....even have an order number for it. I called them to have them physically put the lens on the K100D while I am on the phone to see if it is true......(which I doubt) They are closed on Saturday, but will be open tomorrow. I will let you know what the verdict is, altho' I can tell by reading the posts here, that it is more than likely a moot point. Have to do it, tho'. I am not sure how they could have it listed if it doesn't fit our make of camera. Can all of these people make this mistake....? Surely someone has ordered this lens, only to send it back, and tell them it doesn't fit the Pentax......???

I would like to thank you for the comments on my pictures. And I agree with Sajmmiller.........the Ozarks, Adirondacks etc.....mere molehills compared with the Sierra Nevadas and the Rockies. My favorite are the Sierra Nevadas.......I am ready to move this minute! I will be sure to send more...always looking for advice to improve my photography.

Thank you, Peter. From your beautiful pictures, I can see it will, most definitely, be well worth saving for the 'Bigma'. I am starting already. And thank you for the explanation of what HSM meant. Not real familiar with all of the 'shortcuts'. lol

Will also purchase the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8. (I voted 'yes' btw)

Hi, All,

I would like to thank you for your information. I will definitely take my camera with me to the shop to see if it fits on my Pentax. I am not sure if it the Macro or not. Will have to check it out. (and at the risk of sounding like an idiot.....what does HSM stand for) (grin)
Peter, thanks for the input on the 'Bigma'. I have read nothing but good about this lens, but wanted a first hand account about it. Now I have even more incentive to save and get one.

Thanks again,
Meyjo

Ok, so it is my understanding that this particular lens will not fit on a Pentax????? Good thing I tuned in....I was in a camera shop recently getting some proofs done, and inquired about this very lens. The owner of the shop knows I own a Pentax K100D and never said a word. Is it possible he doesn't know, or is just trying to make a quick sale? And have any of you used or do any of you own a Sigma 50-500mm f/4-6.3?? How do you like it?

Hi Everyone,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your advice about the batteries....I have purchased some Energizer RECHARGABLES, and love them.......I went to Nevada on a vacation, put a set in my camera when I left my home, took hundreds of pictures...and only put fresh ones in my camera, just to see if they had held their charge. So. This weekend, I am going to the camera shop where I was recommended to purchase the ProMaster batteries, taking them all back, and telling them what they can do with them. Nicely, of course. (maybe) Big waste of money in my view. Anyway, thanks.
