Windows 7 - 64 bit - no PEF format support

I think that I may have solved the problem of viewing PEFs in Windows 7. There is a download from Pentax that seems to address the problem. The website is : PENTAX RAW codec software for Windows : Software Downloads : PENTAX After I downloaded this, all my files started displaying as thumbnails and not the orange flower. Try this and see if it works for you.

I have downloaded the Microsoft Codec Pack and can see PEF files from my K100D, but the files from my new K-5 only appear as a square with a big landscape graphic. All the files appear the same except for the file name. Is there some difference between K100D PEFs and those from the K-5?

Does it matter when my K5 was made?

I just received mine on Wednesday and it had a manufacture date of May 16, 2011 and firmware v. 1.01. Mine was the first picture taken with the camera and it was not setup with the language when I first turned it on, so it was a new camera. I guess that there were a lot of K-5s sitting on a shelf somewhere. I updated the firmware to v. 1.13 and everything is fine.

Corrosion appearing on battery grip

I suspect that the residue is due to galvanic action between dissimilar metals instigated with the addition of chlorinated water. The chlorinate water may have etched away some of the protective coating on the screws and plate and fostered the corrosion that you have noted. Sealing with a thin coat of silicone or even some black paint, may prevent the reoccurance in the future.

This photo was taken as a jpeg during a river cruise on the Rhine River in Germany in October. 2011. Some minor post processing (cropping and filter) were applied to the photo.
