I tried the alkaline setting but still got battery depleted...I'll try lithiums...:)

BTW, what do you think of the lens caps with the leash? I noticed after I bought the hood that some of them came with one of those...they look convenient but wonder if they get in the way alot?

Just for fun, I ordered one from China off ebay for 3.99...doesn't work with alkaline AAs...says battery depleted...guess it's defective. Anyone else have problems with one of these?

I've had my KR for about 6 months and have been learning alot from reading this forum and experimenting with the camera. I seem to take pretty decent shots outside at all ranges, indoors with a flash but I still have a problem with one arena. My daughter's auditorium at school. I can't seem to get a sharp shot of anything up on the stage with the 55-300. It all comes out fuzzy. I tried different white balance modes (the lights are tungsten) and still no dice. Is it maybe that zooms just aren't that good indoors without a tripod? Any advice would be appreciated...:)

Gotta go to my kid's school tomorrow and take some pics in the auditorium under fluorescent lights. My KR shows daylight color, daylight white, cool white and warm white. Not up on all this yet. Can someone tell me the differences and what to use when?

I can't seem to import any movies into iphoto. Even if I pull a folder onto my desktop from the Camera, it won't play. I did some googling and found flip4mac and some other programs but thought I'd check with the experts here first before buying anything else...:)

I'm a bit perplexed...when I use my macro lens on live view, it zooms way in on the object than goes back out...is this normal?

I'm trying to install the included software but nothing happens on my imac...I was able to open the CD and register the product, but not get into the installation....not sure I need it anyway but just curious if I do and why I can't get it to load....
Also, the lens manual does not list the kR under it's table of lens/built in flash compatibility....I'm sure I will discover most of what I need to now by experimenting with it, but again, curious why it's not listed....

Ditto on the OP's list..I looked at the Nikon D3100 and D5000 and they felt cheap in my hand...the Pentax was like Baby Bear's porridge...and I have to say, with all the Nikons and Canons around everyone's neck, it's nice to have an old school name on mine....on a related note, I went to a party this past weekend for my friend Ram who is a photographer and one of his friends showed up with a K5....so we chatted about Pentax and he is the one who told me to get the Lens Pen...:)
