Agreed, I guess when we get the “new and improved” we have to leave somethings behind. As a side note I was checking the exposure of my K10 to myMinolta Spotmeter F and there was a world of difference in some instances, seems like the K10 is not as accurate as I thought it would be being it’s a newercamera. It almost makes you miss the old needle meter that was in the olderfilm cameras like the K1000. It was an awesome visual reference for exposures. |

Too bad, it was a great feature! I used it shooting sports and it help out tremendouslyby eliminating the need to hand zoom to the same scene over and over |

Thank you Ole and Adam for your quick responses, the firmware is 1.30, myold PZ1 had settings for these modes. I can’t seem to get the K10 / or the lensto Zoom Clip (not to worried about size tracking) using the buttons on the sideof the barrel of these lenses. B |

Does anyone know what settings to use to get the Power Zoom functionsto work using a K10D and the FA power zoom lenses? I’m using the SMC FA 28 - 105 and 100 - 300mmlenses. I read an article that stated the lenses will operate two of the modesavailable. These 4 options / operations are supposed to be available when usedwith the K10D
1. Power Zoom
2. Lens Retraction
3. Zoom Clip Mode
4. Image Size Tracking Mode
Any helpwould be appreciated. Thanks - B

Thanks mattdm, I read thru that post and I was hopeful this could be assimple as a firmware problem but it looks like there are hardware issues due tothe lack of a TTL sensor in the K10D body... |

Thanks vonBaloney I use it in Manual Mode with an SMC FA 100-300MM. I'm alsousing it with an off camera cord and adapter, this probably wont make adifference but sometimes these things are quirky |

I’ve owned and shot them all. I have to say using lensesfrom 20 years ago today is awesome. What the “other guys” don’t realize is Pentaxhas only had one major mount change, from a screw mount to the ever lovedK-mount (variations yes) and we can even use the screw mounts on our cameras too. When I taught photography I groomed many Pentaxians in theclass room, but never put down the other cameras that were there also. I guesswe are a more humble breed of photographer. When I educated my class on the benefitsto shooting a Pentax they were sold. The camera of choice was the K1000 (I taughtduring the film era LOL) I would hear the occasional debate on what camera was betterbut quickly dispatched any disagreements with my speech that a camera was justan expensive hole, the glass in front and the eye in the back is what makes agreat photograph. I am proud to shoot my Pentax and you couldn’t pry it frommy cold dead fingers, that said shoot on my fellow Pentaxians and spread theword. B |

Will the AF-500-FTZ TTL when used with the K10D? It seems to fully discharge no matter what the lighting situation.
