There are other reasons why people use back button focusing. I am just glad that Pentax, Nikon and Canon all include a dedicated AF button on their pro cameras. Judging by all the folks that have gone out of their way to write articles about their reasons why they prefer BBF, and dont consider it a "complication" or "less sophisticated ", i am not the only one that feels that way.
Of course it is preference and there are plenty of ways to skin this cat.
